So how do we go about getting a books forum?

There are plenty of books threads in entertainment which would be much better placed in their own forums.

oooh, I highly recommend 'Perdido Street Station' for any sci-fi or fantasy fants. I'm reading it at the moment and it's so macabre and weird, it's awesome :-)
Yes, yes, yes. And to a lesser extent The Scar and Iron Council, also set in teh world of New Crobuzon.

oooh, I shall have to check those ones out then too. Have you got any recommendations for novels of a similar theme and atmosphere? That novel represents precisely the kind of stuff I like reading (with the expection of the almighty Gormenghast, that just nails it)

You PM one of the mods. Or go to the 'ask a mod' bit (at the top of the 'about TSR' forum) and ask there.
Beware, though, they're quite careful about what would be used and what wouldn't.
    Yay, book forum! :p:

Like some of the other people on here, I like Discword, Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, and Bartimaeus.
To add some new stuff to the list, I also like Shadow Children books, which are by Margaret Peterson Haddix. For people interested in vampires, the Noble Dead books by Barb and JC Hendee are good.
