    Barman / Deputy Speaker Election
DayneD89You all know me so I wont waste too much time. I'm very active, online at all hours and I do my best to be fair to all parties at all times. I am running for Barman because I hope to run for the coming speaker place, but think it would be best if I had a trial as it were to see if I am capable and competent at the job. Also someone has to bring booze back into the bar.

I realize that when called on to act as speaker I would have to temporarily leave my post as Lib Dem leader to do so, but I have confidence in the party and my deputy that they would not fall apart without me and so would be able to commit fully to the operation of the house.

If I win, have a drink on me.
One drink per person, 4 drink minimum to claim a free drink, nothing over a fiver.

    Bruce Taylor
I have been an active member of the House of Commons for almost two years and have enjoyed my time here immensely and, of course, wish to contribute to the House as much as possible. Normally I would do this by being an MP, debating and voting on bills.

However I would now like to take up a new challenge and thus wish to take up the post of Deputy Speaker/Barman. I feel that I am not only more than experienced enough to take up the position, with two years of time in the House but I am also massively dedicated to this house and its running well, and therefore I will strive to ensure that it (and the bar) run as smoothly as possible in tandem with our future speaker so that it remains an efficient and ultimately enjoyable place to debate.

Afcwimbledon2First of all I'd like to thank you for reading. My name is Simon and I'm running in the Barman Election. As Barman I would do my duty's with everything I can muster. Be a good person, and uphold the constitution. I may just be a school kid, but I feel I have shown enough of my self to be able to run for this.

I feel, that we need some fresh eyes to help our newly planned constitution set up (its been planned several times). As well as getting this house out of its recent troubles. I will bring to you stable cover, on the occasion that the new speaker or Daniel is away.

I have gained some experience during my two or so months, including becoming an MP, getting a bill through to a vote, as well as giving a good fight to get elected for the Model United Nations's Security Council, eventually losing 12 votes against 5 votes, however despite losing, against vastly stronger opposition - I have become an Model United Nations representative for Malta. Now I know I have a worsening reputation after the Vote of No Confidence. However I feel I can do this impartially and more important to a similar level that the previous barmen did. However it will still be big shoes to fill.

I'm Simon and I want to help you!

    Thanks for Reading

yeah I copied and pasted the entire PM, forgetting to take out the quotes...

i suppose you got here before the poll even appeared?

but I wish all candidates the best of luck. I'll be sending you all some basic instructions because I'll literally be leaving 7 hours after the result is announced so I'll be getting clearance from the admin team for you all to take over as barman should you win the election. this will include having you as a group leader for the MP group and having the forum assistant capabilities for the time you are barman.

throwing whoever wins in at the deep end eh? :p: fair enough. I'm sure bruce or me could manage it. AFC in not so sure about due to lack of experience. Mind, bruce has more than me.

Only one of the candidates has the ability to construct a sentence without errors, tbh.

will you use this opportunity to be deputy speaker as a potential springboard to become the speaker when I step down?

Indeed I will. I would intend to use this as a taster and tester to see If I am up for the job and to see if the house likes how I would perform.

awww don't be a grammar nazi. If you can understand what's said then why do tiny errors in it matter?

To all three candidates: How would you have resolved the coalition arguments that plagued the beginning of this term and what would you have done to ensure the problem does not re-occur? Are any of you planning to run in the Speaker election?

Afcwimbledon, considering your relatively short experience in this house, do you think you are fully qualified to take on the responsibilities of being Deputy Speaker?

To all three candidates: How would you have resolved the coalition arguments that plagued the beginning of this term
Given that exact scenario I would have interpreted normal to mean 3-way coalitions were legal and thus the PF would have been government. This would have been changed if Matt-Low could back up any evidence that me or the speaker had said that that amendment rendered 3 way coalitions unconstitutional or if it had been stated in the constitution
and what would you have done to ensure the problem does not re-occur?
I think the constitution should be kept updated as we go along. In this scenario then we would have known how the speaker would have interprited it and if it was interprited wrong then a new amendment could be tabled to correct the problem.

Are any of you planning to run in the Speaker election?
my manifesto kinda answers that so does my post to dan.

What do you all think of unioflife's amendment?
I think the current system if fine if we make the current constitution only guidelines. I think we need a shorter and simpler constitution though and its something I am currently woring on anyway.

I would be in charge of running a new barman election. If I won you would get to see what I would be like as speaker. try before you buy as it were.
