Yeah I thought MSA is part of both MMU and Manchester, it's a bit odd seeing them ranked separately...

Rankings will always have their flaws, cum grano salis. Look at the individual performance areas i.e. 'student staff ratio', 'career prospects', and 'satisfied with teaching' instead.

it's quite odd with mmu as my friend got accepted by brighton and got unsuccessful at mmu and de montfort, isnt it weird?isn't mmu not even a quite good uni for architecture?and that was last year when it hadnt even been merged with the higher one....

I really liked Brighton, especially the lanes and the west pier.

I haven't seen the Architecture department at either of those places, so not sure how they compare, but I think Manchester probably has a better reputation because of Norman Foster and Alfred Waterhouse.

What a load of ****. How anyone can take these seriously is unknown to me. The position of some of these universities is ridiculous. Anyone applying should take no notice of these.

You're right, people should totally disregard an independent view of the subject they wish to study...

I've been looking at these for the past 5 years or so for Architecture and every year there seems to be lesser known universities such as Northumbria/Strathclyde getting really high rankings.

I think the rankings are useful but should be taken with a pinch of salt. Until you visit them you really have no idea how good they will be for you personally. I, for example, had the idea in my head that I would love Bath and not been keen on Uni's in the North-West. As it turns out I visited Bath, was really disenchanted by it and ended up applying to both Liverpool and Manchester.

Manchester School of Architecture is jointly University of Manchester and MMU so it's ridiculous that they've ranked them seperately. Don't see how they've dropped from 7th to 18th either seeing as there haven't been any major changes.
