Default AQA Maths Core 4 (Thursday 11th June) - Discussion Thread.

Anyone doing the exam tomorrow?

I got shocking 21/100 in January

Didnt revise though.

I really cant do the Differentiating Implicitly and Rcos(x+a)

Anyone else struggle?

Hoping for 70/100 this time though.

Yep.

The plan was to do well in Core 3, and not worry about Core 4 as much.

Trouble is, I found Core 3 hard. Oh dear.

Anyway, does anyone have the mark scheme for January 2009?

I reckon C4 is so much easier than C3. I am hopefully going to hammer this tomorrow! Not the best at the harder vector questions though. Other than that I'm good

hey im stuck on part C of this questios. its AQA june 2007 Q7

the lines L1 and L2 have equations r=(8,6,-9)+l(3,-3,-1) and r=(-4,0,11)+m(1,2,-3)

A) show L1 and L2 and perpendicular

B) show L1 and L2 intercesct and find the co-ords of the point of intersection, P

C) the point A(-4,0,11) lies on L2. the point B on L1 is such that Ap=BP. find the length of AB

any clues on how to do it? iv look at the mark scheme and it doesnt seem to make sense to me. its just part C i need help with thanx

for part a you have to put l1 multiplied by l2 but only the end bits, i.e. (3x1) + (-3x2) + (-1x-3) = -and they should equal zero if perpendicular. I can't explain the other bits very well but I'm sure someone will.

How do you integrate 8 over (5-x)^2 ??

Can anyone explain how to do vector when finding the fourth point of a parallelogram?
I think I can do everything else but I still don't know where to start on this.

just thought id share... I need 72% to keep an A (54 marks i think)
i got question
3 a) and c) wrong - silly mistake not reading question
(8 marks)
6) last two parts
(4 marks)
7c) worked out co-ord for C,but stopped there
(6 marks)
8) last part, worked out -0.5... ut stopped there
(2 marks)
The marks in brackets are for the question parts, how many method marks do you think i'd get for those questions? (May have made 1 other odd mistake)

No one cares what you need for an A
