If I do worse on my exam retake do I keep my original mark?

My friend just told me something worrying - that they take your most recent mark, not your best one - when compiling your complete A Level result - is this true?

Its just I thought they always took the better one even if it was your first attempt?

I'm now really worried as I'm resitting WJEC ELang4 tomorrow, and I scrapped a B the first time round, if I have a bad exam I don't want to come out with a lower UMS that would contribute towards my final A Level.

HELP!!!!

Use some common sense, love. Of course they take your best grade, otherwise what would be the point?

yes they do, unless you get the same mark
Possibly, I got a worse mark in a re-sit and the school didn't cash it in, but it depends on the subject and year.. ask your school! They'll be much more reliable
I can tell you from experience, you keep your best mark

I have looked into this previously. With absolute certainty you keep your best mark.

Good Luck
