Hi I am doing an industrial placement which is part of my course where I work full-time. Am I still allowed to find a part-time job? Thanks
Yes if you can find a part-time job then you can work for maximum of 20 hours per week.

"a letter from a bank confirming that funds have been held for a consecutive 28-day period ending no more than one month before the date of your application"

Okay I get it that I must have funds in bank account for 28 days, but what does the second part means?
the bank statement must be within a month before applying? or what?

Hi everyone! I've got a question on the evidence of money part of the application.

They state that you need to show funds enough to cover all your course fees for the first year and the maintenance money (which already includes accommodation). However, I'm planning to pay for both tuition and accommodation fees in termly instalments. Does it still mean I need to show all the money? Or the university can state the instalment thing on my CAS?

    Thanks a lot!

I have to apply for tier4 visa. I am basically from India but I am in USA from past several years.
    1) Can I apply for UK tier4 visa from USA (or I can apply only from my home country)
    2) How long does it takes. Can I apply in person so that it is done faster as I plan to leave US to visit India before joining course in UK
    3) Can dependent of tier4 visa work in UK (or does he/she need separate work visa)
    4) If somebody has notes/web links handy that describes step by step process to apply for tier4 visa, can you please forward it.

    Thanks

I previously applied for a tier 4 when I did a year abroad during my undergraduate, and now that I'm applying for another for a masters degree, I've noticed a few changes on the application.

My main question was proving funds and 'trusted countries.' I'm under the assumption that if you are from a trusted country you do not need to show proof of funds, although they could ask and if you don't provide the visa will be denied. PLEASE HELP! thanks

Yes, that's correct. You don't have to send the proof with your application but they may ask you to provide it once they've received your application, in which case you'd need to send it then.

Hey people, does anyone know if I can use a loan held in my father's name as evidence of funds as long as he writes a letter confirming that it will be used to fund my studies?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the ATAS certificate? I checked the "ATAS for undergraduates" thread but it's not very helpful. I need to obtain an ATAS certificate for my MEng Mechanical Engineering course, as part of my visa application. However one of the requirements for the certificate is the University of Edinburgh offer letter, and it has to include the optional modules I anticipate studying in my 5th year. The problem is, I've received my offer letter on UCAS, but it doesn't include any modules. I emailed the university and I'm awaiting a reply. Is anybody else facing the same issue? Any advice/guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm applying for the ATAS certificate for Mechanical Engineering at Edinburgh. What about you? Are you doing a research/taught masters or PhD?

Hello! I'm sorry I didn't have time to read the 303 pages' worth of posts, so it's likely that my question has already been answered... in any case, would you recommend applying for a visa now? My mother seems to have a bit of a lax attitude about it, like "there's always time" but I'm nervous about not getting it on time.

    Some facts:
    - I have already firmly accepted a conditional offer and received a letter stating this
    - I am 100% confident of meeting my offer
    - I start uni on the 1st of October

I was reading some webpages on the British Council and it said some applications can take up to a few months. This is making me rather anxious about getting it over with.

    Any advice? Thanks!

you don't have CAS yet so you can't apply for visa.

From what I gather you must show all the money. How you pay for accomodation and fees is irrelevent to them, you just need to show that you have all the money with you at the time of visa application. Better to email an official and confirm

hi there, I am currently having a bit problem with the ATAS application. I am applying to Imperial but my offer conditions include handing in an ATAS application into the college. I have been trying to start my application but I am always stuck on the registration detail page on ATAS website. No matter how many times I clicked on the SUBMIT button, the page didn't go forward at all. I wonder if you have experienced similar problems...

Ahh right, no I haven't actually started the application because I still don't have modules on my offer letter. Are you doing a postgraduate degree? or an MEng undergraduate? Either way how did you get the offer letter with the modules on it? Did you have to tell the university to update your offer letter?

And as for your problem, you can try deleting your cookies? that may be the problem.. If not then you should send the FCO an email to ask for help because it's important to finish your application once you start it. Tell me how it goes, best of luck

Can anyone confirm that what has been said below is correct? I am stressing out about having the proper bank statements for my parent's account. I looked at my mother's account and for her savings it does not show the balance every day, only on days where there is a transaction/balance change. However, I read somewhere for the UKBA that the bank statement MUST show the balance every single day for a 28 day period.

Also my bank statement only shows days when there was a change to a balance, I don't know about yours, but I asked in my bank and they told me that even if they wanted to they can't show balance for days when no change was made. And I don't use my current account every day let alone foreign currency account which I don't plan using at all. So my bank statement will be a short one I guess.
I think every bank account is like this. If they don't see anything for a particular date they will just assume the balance did not change so its completely fine.

Hello =) I just realised I hadn't got an offer with the Modules on it. I am going to do a taught Master degree (MEng).. I just met the condition on my offer of handing in the Alevel certs and EILTs. Maybe I should wait till the Uni update my offer~ Thank you for replying =P

I emailed my university asking them to update mine, turns out I'd got it all wrong lol, the offer letter you need for the ATAS certificate is the unconditional letter you get in August after you receive your final grades. Only then can you apply for the ATAS, and then after that you can apply for the visa. Good luck

Oh I'm in a kinda different situation.. I am re-applying with my last year grades so I guess I should be able to start my application. But to get an unconditional offer i need to hand in ATAS application cert to the university... Ahh not sure what I should do -.-
