Default D1 linear programming help.

LOL @ at number of S1 threads that have died since yesterday and the number of newborn D1 threads today btw.

I hate D1 so much. Those weird inequalities with linear programming annoy me. Look at this one:

"Joan is producing a revision plan for the weekend for two subject areas, A and B. She has at most 6 hours available. She feels that she needs to work for at least two hours in each subject area. The subject area contribue to 60% and 40% respectively as her grade and she wants her revision to reflect that."

So A is subject A, and B is subject B, right?
A+B </= 6, right?
B>/=2
A>/=2
and the next bit about percentages I always stumble on.
Is it 0.6A= 0.4B?
Because, that would mean that B has to be greater than A for that to be true, right?
so is it axtually:
0.4A = 0.6B?
so really, it's been swapped about? how weird.

So, if ever there's like "x has to be twice y" it's really swapped around with 2 being the coefficent for y and not x, right? Because, thinking about it, if x=2y or w/e, x is going to have to be twice as big, right? It's kind of annoying to think about.

If you think of it in terms of ratios, it might be easier.

\dfrac{A}{B}=\dfrac{60}{40} and rearrange.

I think it would be
A=0.6(A+B)
B=0.4(A+B)

I'm sure you can see where I got that from.
