Default Writing a personal statement when you're applying for slightly different courses.

Ok, within the last week or 2 my company has announced voluntary redundancies, and it's fairly likely compulsory ones will soon follow. As you can see by the length of time i've been a member ('06) i've wanted to go to uni for quite sometime. I was going to save for another year, but with the vr payment I could potentially walk straight into uni instead of having to save another year to get the same amount. So I'm going to have a crack at applying. Also as I may lose my job anyway, it's a now or never thing.

My access grades are good, hefc equivalent to AAB. this was 07-08. So far my choices are;

english and creative writing
english and history
history
TESOL and photography

I have a good interest in english, it's always been an ambition of mine to write even if I'm never published, I'm a closet history buff and have travelled a lot in the past visiting temples and checking out the usual mouldy trinkets in museums around the world. I'm also not a bad photographer, it's a second job for me on weekends at the mo which hopefully will do me nicely through the 3 years, and my reason for studying is so that I can teach english abroad. So my choices are really a list of my hobbies/interests. However I'm just wondering if submitting this list is going to seem as though I'm indecisive? If I condense what I've just said above as a justification in my personal statement, will it come across as a load of b.s?

People can do well in their applications even with very disparate subjects. It does make writing your personal statement a lot more difficult though. In the end, you're only going to be able to accept one offer, so it might make more sense to cut one of your choices now than to have a slightly fragmented application and then have to choose one or the other anyway. If you don't want to do that, though, I'm sure you could still write a personal statement that covered all three - it just might be difficult.

Thankyou for your reply. I'm now thinking if the variation in my courses will potentially undermine the strength of each individually. Should this be a great concern?
