oh sorry to hear about that!
we were basically told about recent projects sheffield university had been doing such as finding out for hte department of health the responsiveness of different types of alcohol consumption to prices income and advertising expenditure, so basically price elasticities at work. then he talked us through the degrees we can do and said while its fine to do a dual degree containing two completely different subjects such as french and economics, its probably better to do two subjects which have some crossover such as geo/eco.
year 1 we do economic analysis 1/2 and maths methods for 1/2 and in the dual degrees 2 modules in another subject. year 2, we do micr/macro economics and two options, options range from research methods, economics of education etc. and econometrics. year 3 you do 3 economics and 3 modules in other subjects. theres quite a lot of options to do in unit 3 such as labour/monetary/health economics. if youre doing a dual i think you do less economics options and replace them with your second subject.
he then talked about studying abroad and the facilities at sheffield.
35-40 hours a week workload, 10 contact hours, 25-30 private study. youll get a personal tutor who you meet once a term and a mentor from the years above.
he then basically said where all the students have gone and what theyre doing.
sorry about the waffle, if i havent explained something well just let me know
