Re: dubstep in nottinghamYou'll love it, especially if they've opened up the whole complex, which they should do as it's the dnb awards!!!!So jealous right now!(Original post by SensiDub)
^^^Really? I'm going to the Custard Factory on the 27th for the first time.
Basslaced this Friday at Stealth, Shy FX & Caspa!
I used to go to The custard factory at least twice a week, man I miss that place
-
Re: dubstep in nottinghamNice, im in love with Stealth so I cant wait to see what Custard Factories like. I ain't massively into DnB though.(Original post by Millie B)

Has anyone been to Market bar? Rubberdub have an event there on the 12th, Radikal Guru & Distinction which should be massive, they held a quality night at the West Indian centre a few months ago. -
Re: dubstep in nottingham(Original post by KTpie)
Corinne i know exactly what you mean!! Not been into dubstep for thaaaat long, but back home in Leeds all my friends were into the underground dance scene, really miss the decent clubnights & warehouse parties and stuff.
Met some great people here but all anyone ever seems to want to do is EQ, revs or walkabout pffft!
It's frustrating when there's so much happening but not knowing anyone to go with.
There's a 'rave' society at trent, not really checked it out but could be a way of meeting people who like decent music maybe
Yeah me too, I mean I wouldn't say I'm like a die hard fan I just really enjoy the events, it's a whole different atmosphere, so much better! And like i said, NYE was just so good
I've already had somebody get in touch with me on Facebook in the same situation! so add me if it really gets to you, we'll go out! To Stealth like that person said ^^^ Uni is all about meeting new people after all
Hope you're good xxx -
Re: dubstep in nottingham(Original post by Millie B)
The 'rave' society doesn't seem like the right kind of society, I might be wrong??!
Anyway, I'm lucky enough to have neighbours who listen to dubstep and dnb (found out as they have an amazing sound system, you can hear from two floors down! And pretty much all the dubstep/dnb tunes that I have, so thats was good) we went to detonate last friday, you and corinne should go to stealth! However nothing compares to the Custard Factory in my opinion in terms of the venue
but Nottingham gets a lot of good dj's.
Neighbours with a sound system, that is unbelievable luck
I know a girl who has a load of people in the house opposite her who are well into dubstep and DnB and she won't stop complaining about it
I'm like PLEASE can we swap places! lol xx -
Re: dubstep in nottinghamYeah you'll love it, I'm not into dnb much either, just the odd tune with a nice bass line will get me, I like jungle. I'm going to market bar next week to check it out, as my flatmate said it's good on that day, I've been there before though.(Original post by SensiDub)

I've never heard of Radikal Guru and Distinction *looks them up*...
They sound good has more of a chilled vibe, which woulld suit the market bar venue. I might check that out.

Re: dubstep in nottinghamI know! However it'ss not good when I've gotta be up early the next day, no matter how much I'm loving the bass through walls! It's they have my music collection, from rnb/hip hop and dubstep...so weird but good!(Original post by CorinneLian)

I might check out Stealth when Joker comes. -
Re: dubstep in nottinghamYeah Radikal Guru's more chilled 'dubby' Dubstep, proper reggae influences to it.(Original post by Millie B)

But yeah I do like the older Jungle scene, they've got a room dedicated to it with the likes of Goldie playing so I may just station in there all night, 180bpm is a ridiculous tempo to dance to in fairness, especially for 6/7 hours! -

Re: dubstep in nottinghamI don't understand when people talk of bpm guessing beats per minute??? Give me an example of a track at 180bpm. Whenever I go to Custard I'm there dancing hard for 6 hours plus at whatever tempo the beats at lol, me and my mate are hard core man(Original post by SensiDub)
Yeah Radikal Guru's more chilled 'dubby' Dubstep, proper reggae influences to it.

Are you going to stealth 26th? -
Re: dubstep in nottingham
Uh well most DNB/Jungle is around 180bpm, where-as Dubsteps usually made at about 140bpm. Don't get me wrong I love a skank to some hyped up DNB, but 8 hours of it is gunna leave me in a wreck, at least with Dubstep I can take it easy!
And I wasn't planning to but I see Gentlemans Dub Club are there, so yeah probably will. -
Re: dubstep in nottingham(Original post by CorinneLian)
You guys, you are a godsend
Since moving to Nottingham I have met many lovely people but not a single person who is into DnB or dubstep nights, which is ok for a while... but now i'm starting to go a little bit insane, especially seeing as there is such a huge scene here.
I went to Detonate NYE with some friends from home and now I mentally want to go to all the events, but no one will go with me! They def need a society at NTU, i just don't know how you're spose to meet these people!
Anyway add me on facebook if you want its Corinne Homer
It would just be a relief to know ANYONE from round here with the same taste in nights out
Taaaa
xx
Well funny you should say this because I had the same problem and so I started such a society...RaveTrent (I didnt want to call it that but hey thats democracy!)(Original post by KTpie)
There's a 'rave' society at trent, not really checked it out but could be a way of meeting people who like decent music maybe
just to clarify a few things...
RaveTrent is not really a "Rave" society - its a society for people who dont enjoy ocean as much as everyone else and a society that runs events with good music for nice, friendly people. Members also get discounts to most of the big nights in Notts like Detonate.
RaveTrent ran a bi-weekly dubstep and dnb night for a couple of years and now it hosts a monthly Thursday at Dogma in the Lacemarket. There's always a friendly crowd and good people. In fact, I met most of my best Uni friends through RaveTrent. I'm not sure what its like now but we handed it down to good bunch of people so go check it out...
Also check out the next Tektronik @ Stealth on April 9th with Kito (UK debut - without a doubt the best female dubstep producer at the moment Kito Myspace), Oneman (Rinse FM) and BAR9.
TEKTRONIK APRIL 9TH FACEBOOK EVENT
Also Tektronik, RaveTrent, DnB Soc, Dubstep Soc and RaveSoc are teaming up to do an almighty end of year event at Stealth in early June so watch this space!!
If anyone is up for selling tickets for these events hit me up x -
