    tan x?
    No, i did that as a guess but it is wrong - w doesn't equal 45 degrees

    Besides it asks for the answer to be given to 2 d.p. in the question

    Is this in radians or degrees?
    Doesn't say... it's just says

    arctan x = 1 (soz it wasn't w after all)

    find the value of x to 2 d.p.

    All i know that it's not 45 degrees

    Assuming "1" means "1 radian",

    x = tan(1) = 1.56

    arctan x = 1
    so x = tan1 = 0.02

    arctan(tan1) = 1
