This thread is probably doomed to fail as I have only met one person so far who is on a gap year. But I thought it would be nice to have a thread for people who are going through the same things as each other, especially if you're like me and going to another country alone, and so need all the support you can get!
I know what you mean with the parents thing. When I told them that I wanted to do this my mum's reaction was that I am "wasting my life" because I "wanted to go to uni" and am "changing plans" . So now my mum is telling me that all my plans are stupid and contradicting all my decisions. In the end any help that I need now, I am still in contact with my German teacher, and she is willing to give me more support than my own family.
I bet you will get the grades , what is it that you need?
AAB for my firm but AAA for me to have a chance to reapply.
I'll try to work on my mum for the next three months but I don't want to make a mistake by taking a gap year if I'm not really sure.
Good luck!
I mean this sounds awful, I realise, but there is always clearing if the worst does happen .
I know what you mean . I think this is the most difficult, scariest and yet most exciting decision I have ever made. Even now I think, but if I go to uni this year I'll still be in my comfort zone. Ah, but then that niggling feeling of excitement overrules all my doubts .
I know what you mean by the job hunting...have you thought about applying for a job abroad (for an English speaking company or in an English speaking country -- there is even the opportunity of summer camps for now ).
Good luck!

It doesn't sound awful but usually there aren't that many places for law or straight law or a qualifying law degree in clearing (confusing I know).
I think what I'll do is try to get a job and then see how it goes from there.
I am on a rather unplanned gap year, and because of that, i have nothing planned! It will probably end up with me getting a job somewhere, and i would like to go on holiday/travelling sometime, but i din't want to go it alone, so i will have to find someone to go with me!..which could be a challenge seeing as all my friends are going to university...hmm
Hey! I'm going backpacking in Germany in two weeks. Going from Hamburg right down south to the southernmost area (Friedrichschafen) and partying my arse off along the way. Should be fun! Please do get in contact with me on PM.
And this year is my gap year, Thailand, Scandanavia and Australia.
Hellooo! I'm taking a gap year. hopefully going to do some volunteering for an enviornmental thing in the south of Spain!
I'd love to go to Germany, I speak basic German... any advice on where to go? some place interesting, lots to see etc (I am a travelling novice!)

Lower Sachsony is apparently really good for interesting things because it's so varied ie. city life, rural life and a beach
