Re: Fast Stream 2010 CompetitionThat really is cryptic! I guess your right, just have to keep on checking and hope for the best(Original post by nottsdan85)
same here too, i emailed them to ask about results and they were a bit cryptic but said any time up to after the last FSB, that really does mean checking every day i guess!

Re: Fast Stream 2010 CompetitionIt is less intense and more relaxed than FSAC as there are only 4 or 6 people. In terms of locations you are asked to number the 9 locations you could be posted to 1 to 9. 1 being most preferable. I cant quite remember all of them but I think they were London, Croydon, Newcastle, Leeds, Mancs, Notts, Sheff... As for depts there wasnt much word on this; I guess quite a few go to DWP and the HR FS-er who was there was in the home office working for UKBA. Hope that helps.(Original post by jimbosmith)
To those who have already been on the HR FSB, how does it compare with the FSAC? Was there any indication about what sort of departments or locations people get posted to? -
Re: Fast Stream 2010 Competition
in addition to what mikey said i think the other location was birmingham.
yeah i thought that a fair few will probably go to DWP as they seem to be heavily involved with it. I would say that it is definately less intense but i suppose we might be being judged more harshly than the FSAC perhaps. -
Re: Fast Stream 2010 CompetitionYeah I agree with dan on that, you do get the feeling when your in the FSB that you are being quite highly scrutinised and judged.(Original post by nottsdan85)

Re: Fast Stream 2010 CompetitionYeah, during the presentation and interview you have two assessors. At LEAST one of them is writing notes on you constantly, if not both.(Original post by Mikey6)

I ran out of examples from work life and had to use one from university. It was about a play I directed and having to deal with difficult actors. One of the lady assessors asked me what play it was and when I told her it was Tom Stoppard's Arcadia she absolutely lit up. "Oh how wonderful! Well, unfortunately, we can't talk about that now. So back to the questions..."
It left me feeling positive about our overall interaction but obviously that's no indication of what they thought of my abilities for a role. We'll see. -
Re: Fast Stream 2010 Competition
I don't think its very likely because there wasn't a scottish city on the form. How do people think the selection process works? if there are 100 people for 50 places then what happens if some of those decide to join other schemes (GFS, TIB etc). Does that increase the chances of people left in the hr scheme or do you think they would just take less than 50?
-
Re: Fast Stream 2010 CompetitionFrom they way they talked about "clear passes" "clear fails" and "the intermediate group", it makes me think they will take the top 50. So if people pull out i guess your chances would get better. Much like if lots of people started pulling out of the GFS, who had high scores - the lower limit of amber band would get less. Only guessing though!!(Original post by nottsdan85)

Re: Fast Stream 2010 Competition
I had my FSB this week too - I agree with you Mikey, I'm pretty sure that they would fill all the spaces even if it meant taking lower marked people, because we're all still pretty good to have made it to FSB anyway.
Didn't find it too bad, which is worrying because I feel like I should've done well enough to get through which will make it worse to find out I haven't! Hope some of us do hear next week though. -
Re: Fast Stream 2010 CompetitionI feel the same as that too! I really hope we do hear next week! When was your FSB?(Original post by sally27)

Re: Fast Stream 2010 Competition
i think im just hoping we hear before the end of May at the moment!! i suppose they will find it difficult to pass many at this early stage because if there are 50 taking it in May then they could technically all beat the "April people's" scores. but i guess that if someone scored 10 out of 10 (or whatever it might be) then they could fairly confidently pass them at this stage.
i just find it really hard to assess how you have done in these things, i think i did ok but it i might not have given them what they are looking for so not have received a tick in the box so to speak. -
Re: Fast Stream 2010 Competition
Hi guys, I've haven't got my HR FSB until mid-May but just wondered if those of you who have already been could give any info about what the practical exercise is like, and in particular what the case study is like? Is there any role playing or is it just a presentation in response to the case study they give you?
Also did anyone go early to talk to the Professional Capability Team? Was this useful?
