Re: Ask the speakerIn this instance, no, as a referendum has already been called this session. The legislation would have to be submitted next term.(Original post by toronto353)
So one can not legislate for a referendum next term then? -
Re: Ask the speakerYep.(Original post by Rakas21)
I assume that we can rectify this via an amendment? -
Re: Ask the speakerI've done it this morning as a mixture of stuff that came in last evening and a bill which came in this morning.(Original post by MacCuishy)
HoC Update? Were there no bills submitted?? -
Re: Ask the speakerCould you inform this House of each and every point from the admins meeting? We don't seem to heard of anything from this meeting bar the welcome idea.(Original post by Metrobeans)

Re: Ask the speakerI agree - it was promised and would be good to hear something.(Original post by toronto353)
Could you inform this House of each and every point from the admins meeting? We don't seem to heard of anything from this meeting bar the welcome idea. -
Re: Ask the speaker
The reasoning I haven't said much thus far is because a lot of what was discussed is still being discussed and a lot of the actions are with the admins. I didn't want to tell you that something had been discussed, only to turn around later and say that it isn't going to happen. I would have preferred to announce stuff if and when it gets confirmed.
It's not that I don't want to be open with you, but I don't want to raise expectations if we then can't deliver.
Ideas discussed included:
Monthly round up of HoC News in TSR Times
Using Twitter/Facebook to promote key events and exciting debates
Use of homepage to promote major events (Election)
Joint HoC-MuN Meets
Links with RL/Youth Parliament (Write your own bill competition, etc)
Branching out discussion to include members from other areas of the site
Possible MP usertitles
Forum Structure changes
Forms/Template functionality to make bill writing easier
Temporary shoutbox for Live debates/PMQs.
Now, most if not all of these actions are with Admin and they are looking into how feasible the ideas might be. They may not happen. It will be great if they did, but we'll have to see! -

Re: Ask the speakerAll the ideas look feasible in my eyes and beneficial to the development of the MHoC.

I understand you're reasoning behind not telling us yet. The meeting has to have certain actions after it, otherwise, there was no point having the meeting! -

Re: Ask the speakerMaybe that's the case - I'm not sure. I don't want one to make myself feel fancy, but lots of other online forums allow you to have a Custom Usertitle so I don't see why TSR should not have that option, if we're members of an important group of people.(Original post by davidmarsh01)
Sums it up really. People just want MP usertitles so they can feel fancy, not because of any appreciable benefit to the MHoC.
It will also help new members and existing members know where we belong as identity is key here. -

Notice the smiley next to it? It was meant in jest. The idea is nice, but you don't have to be all boring and humourless about it jeez.

Re: Ask the speakerThat's ok. I've seen that happen before, but at least it allows us to know where we are. Thanks for posting all these details.(Original post by Metrobeans)

Re: Ask the speakerIt's in cessation at the moment, so if he's not back by the end of the bill's cessation period then it's automatically withdrawn, just like any other bill.(Original post by stanlas)
What is going to happen to the Carbon Tax Bill, as JPKC has been banned?
