I'd have thought there would have been more of a response! That said, you're right, there's not much time left so if you want to start the by-election process now, I'm fine with that.
I'll put a thread up. :yy:

A lot of people may not realise that JPKC's seat wasn't a Socialist seat and that it was treated differently - i.e. he couldn't be deselected as an MP because he won it himself.

In addition, will JPKC be permitted to run in said by-election?
Nope, he's barred from holding an MP seat for the remainder of this term.

    This isn't a new one!

It's my punishment for the last one.
    Point still stands.

Why could the Speaker Election's thread in the main forum not be kept open?

It's how its always done normally. Though as you and paddy can't post in the Division Lobby, I've opened it again, in case people have further questions to ask of you.

Fair enough, I just thought the questioning might have continued (and it might if there's a second round, which there could be I guess).

When does the next general election start?

Does the Conservative manifesto from last election not have 3 images in it - the background image, and the 2 logos? Should this not mean they should be disqualified from the last election and thus none of their MPs are valid?

Just because I remember we weren't allowed to submit this, on the basis that it had 3 images [early wording draft too].

When the Government decides to call one. September is when it has to be called by.

I make it the 22nd of September but just want confirmation. If the PM now wants an early election then it'll come before then (is that a possibility?).

We haven't discussed the date of an election at the moment.

It'd make sense to call an early one because activity's really starting to tail off in all parties (and obviously I have an interest in seeing this term wrap up quickish).

Obviously at the moment it's difficult to discuss election matters concerning a general election because of the Speakership election. Once that is out of the way, I can imagine that it will feature as a topic of conversation at some point.

I can see that the PM might want to cling on a bit because of the relative unpopularity of conservatives at the moment, and it'll be hard to regain government with only 14 seats and a fresh(ish) Opposition as well.

In all honesty we haven't had a conversation about calling an election so if there are tactical reasons behind it, I can only speculate as much as you can. I think that the Opposition has had ups and downs as well this term. I think that there have been some sterling efforts from some members of the shadow cabinet, but others perhaps needed to speak up a little more really. Whether the Opposition move into Government and vice versa is for the electorate to decide and then for the parties in this House to interpret that decision.
