Tampon Issues
Ok, this may well sound like the most ridiculous thing ever but I am having a minor moment of tampon related stress.
I am coming to the end of my period and this morning I put a tampon in. The thing is that I don't ever remember taking it out but now I can't find it. I can't believe that my memory is failing me to such an extent but it is stressing me out because of all the TSS stories they fill the leaflets with.
So, my question: Is it in any way possible for a tampon to simply get lost? To the extent where the string just isn't visible? And if so, what the hell am I meant to do?
It's possible that I'm just forgetting taking it out, but I really don't know... -
Re: Tampon Issues
There is no way it could get lost, because there is nowhere for it to go. However the string might have ben inserted along with the tampon, so even if you can't see the string it might still be in there. If you insert a finger, can you feel it? if not, it's not there, and you've allready taken it out.

Mooncup ftw
yucky!
(i don't think that any kinda mestrual blood catching device that you wash and reuse is erm ... nice)
but yeah OP (i finally figured out what that meant! yay) just check urself out, if u can't find anything then it's not there...

Re: Tampon IssuesI don't like the thought of something absorbing blood and then just sitting there, gives me a horrible feeling. I like mooncups because I can guarantee that it's clean and stuff(Original post by it's.a.science)

Each to their own though! -
Re: Tampon IssuesMooncups are much less icky than tampons IMO, tampons soak up the blood and leak and if you leave them in too long the blood starts to smell, and they press uncomfortably on your cervix sometimes.(Original post by it's.a.science)

Each to their own though!mooncups sit inside you and fill with your blood...so what happens if u do a handstand?? and surely u can't go swimming with one in...and what happens if it slips? and what about when u're on ur period and u go to the toilet?(Original post by Brouhaha)

Mooncups <3
and tampons are clean unless you drop and unwrapped one on the floor...and u're not supposed to leave them in long enough that they smell...and u just change it if that happens...and if it presses on ur cervix it's in wrong. and if it's leaking - either it's been in way too long or u need a larger one...
i'm not saying mooncups are wrong or whatever - they're just not as practical as a tampon and imo are kinda gross with the swishing of blood...
do u feel this way about pantyliners?? (which i don't use btw because i never need to) -
Re: Tampon IssuesAre you serious? You do realise that menstrual blood exits by your vagina, and urine exits through your urethra. Completely separate. A mooncup or tampon has NO effect on relieving your bladder. That's basic biology.(Original post by it's.a.science)
and what about when u're on ur period and u go to the toilet?

Re: Tampon IssuesIf you do a handstand, then I suppose the blood just stays in your vagina, there's nowhere else for it to go really.(Original post by it's.a.science)

You definately can swim with a mooncup in, just like you could swim with a tampon in. The added advantage of a mooncup is that there's no risk of water getting sucked up in to it as can happen with a tampon string.
It doesn't slip because it forms a seal, which you release when you remove it.
When your period ends you sterilise the mooncup, so it's perfectly clean and hygenic, and I've found it to be much more practical than tampons because it can be left in for longer, plus it saves money.
It's also quite fascinating to see how much blood there is

Yes Mooncups all the way, plus if you've forgotten about it...its not really a huge deal! Love mine

Re: Tampon IssuesAre they really that good ? I'm actually considering one 'cos I HATE pads.(Original post by shorty.loves.angels)
I used to forget as well... always had to do a bit of feeling around to make sure. If this is a common thing, **** tampons off all together, they're nasty things anyway. Mooncup ftw
they sit lower and you certainly won't lose one of them!!

Re: Tampon Issues
I have fiddled and poked and prodded and simply cannot find anything. I'm still kind of confused but I figure I would have felt something by now! I use biggish ones so it can't have slipped up that far And I did poke up there and felt nothing. And don't think it would be upside down because it's an applicator one and not really possible to put in the wrong way.
Oh well, I guess that if I suddenly start feeling ill while on holiday (I leave tonight for Australia - just hope nothing happens on the flight!) I'll know why.
Thanks everyone!
