Re: Annoying customers
I'm walking around Primark, shopping. A man comes up to me: "Scuse me, you work here, where's xyz product?"
Me: "I don't work here..."
Him: "But...oh. The handbag and the carrier bags..."
I'll grant him that I was wearing a black shirt with black trousers, but I had my handbag, two carrier bags and anyway, I've never seen anyone who works for Primark manage to get BBQ sauce in their hair... -

Re: Annoying customersI'd have taken a painstaking long time to count it to teach them a lesson(Original post by Bubbles*de*Milo)

Re: Annoying customers
Have people had experience of their parents coming in?
I often can get free theatre tickets for my family, so my Dad and his friend are often coming in.
Only this time, as they were leaving, my Dad grabbed me and gave me a massive hug and a kiss on the head in front of all the other customers.
Embarrassing, but also unprofessional... -
Once in Starbucks the lady asked a girl called "Alice" for the spelling of her name, so she can recognise it's her coffee
So The lady wrote "Elice"
Then Alice goes "YOU SPELT MY NAME WRONG"
The lady says "As long as it's a close spelling it should be okay"
Then Alice says "NO, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SPELL MY NAME INCORRECTLY GIVE ME THE MARKER AND LET ME WRITE IT"
All honesty it did sound as if she was saying "E" rather than "A"... -
Re: Annoying customers
I work in a supermarket near a private prep school. The kids and their mums often come in after school. Once, I was working on the patisserie counter and a kid was there with her mum. They were clearly having a bit of a disagreement when the woman sort of lost it with the kid and then shouted at me but to the kid, "if you don't work hard at school you will end up stuck in here! like her! (pointing at me) do you want that?) I was at sixth form at the time, I worked 12 hours a week there and she made me feel awful.
Coincidentally, a guy who started at the same time as me progressed though the company and in 4 years now works as a buyer for a chain of department stores. He has a great salary and excellent benefits. I know he is happy. -
Re: Annoying customers
When I worked in a scream pub the customers seemed to view you as some kind of subhuman race, despite the fact that I was in a similar situation to pretty much all of them.
The thing I hated most was when people didn't have enough money and half expected the drink for free, it was often as if I had done them some kind of disservice for them failing to prepare.
Also worked at haydock park for a day when some scallies claimed they'd seen me sneaking money from the till into my pocket and demanded free drinks otherwise they would report me. I just refused to serve them. -
I remember being in the Scream in Liverpool when Liverpool beat arsenal in the CL when a group of 8 arsenal fans tried to attack the barmaid for no reason. Ended up with me and a mate throwing them out whilst the other bar staff just left her.(Original post by Scumbaggio)

A woman in starbucks wrote my name as Clove once, it was mega busy and loud so I didn't mind. Wish it wasn't the week after The Hunger Games came out though, got a few weird looks. -
Re: Annoying customers
Not so much annoying as weird ... A guy came to the till with his shopping in one of our baskets (a mesh one that goes over the shoulder) and empties his items onto the till. I start scanning his items and he says to me, 'Can I keep the basket'. I was really confused about what he'd just said so I laughed and said 'you want to keep the basket?' He explained he wanted it for swimming as it had a padded handle and told me he'd been allowed to take one before, as well as telling me he'd pay for it. I was speechless, I had no idea what to do/say so I called the assistant manager over as he walked past, who seemed just as confused as me. In the end he found a barcode on the bottom of the basket (used for stocktake) and tried scanning it, but it didnt work. I've never seen such a disappointed customer in my life!

To be fair though, I don't get home very often so when I do, if someone else has picked me up at the station and she is at work I will often pop in on the way past, so she will come out from behind the counter and we'll have a big hug in the middle of the shop

Re: Annoying customersIf they shout at us, we get a breath full of hot air, if we shout at them, we lose our job. It's not fair I know. But it can happen, you just have to decide whether one customer is worth losing your job. Of course, if the customer is getting too much for you, you can call your manager, or a security officer if they are being offensive. Customers sometimes to relax a bit more when they see the manager coming to speak to them.(Original post by simonbellringer)
Just reading this makes me annoyed. Why people have to be so rude is beyond me, manners cost nothing. And if we were as rude to the customer as they are to us, mind, we get disciplinary; if they are rude and awkward, they tend to get their way with things - eg returns without a receipt!!

Re: Annoying customerscustomer service call center. They effin piss me off sometimes........(Original post by Emma:-))
Is there anyone on the student room who works in a shop, supermarket, restaurant etc and had really annoying customers.
I work in mcdonalds and we have had our fair share. One threatened to throw a brick with a bacon and egg mcmuffin selotaped to it through the window because he had apparently had a burnt one in the past and apparently the one he had on this occasion was burnt too (it wasnt at all) He never did throw it through the window.

Re: Annoying customersPotentially one of the most annoying things in retail, especially if you have a lot of customers!(Original post by Bubbles*de*Milo)

I've had this multiple times. The staff love my parents, but one time my dad stood there for 20 minutes telling the assistant manager about all the murder mysteries my mum's interested in and the time he was on a job abroad and he got called away and while he was gone his co-workers got kidnapped. Granted, the second story was awesome, but it was still awkward for him to be talking for 20 minutes while the assistant manager tried to work.(Original post by skunky x)

I've had similar stuff before. One time a customer came up to me and asked "How much is that?". I wasn't sure what she was referring to, so I asked her what she meant. Turns out she wanted to buy a shelf. X_X I've also had a day where I've come back from the shops, put the stamps my boss needed behind the till, and had a customer attempt to buy them (for 7p! o.o). Also, we often get customers trying to buy cups of tea because the staff leave them in awkward places (e.g. on bookshelves).

Re: Annoying customers
I work as a waiter in a restaurant and a customer came up to the bar (where I'm stationed) and asked me about some Hygiene rating. I didn't know what the rating was at the time, and the manager was very, very busy to be called.
He was waiting for his take-away so he stood at the bar for 10mins constantly saying to me that it was the law to show the Hygiene sign to customers while I tried to defend the restaurant against something I didn't know about while pouring everyone's drinks. The old man just kept the argument going round in circles.
When I went home, I looked up the thing on the internet. Our rating is 4/5 and it wasn't the law to show such a sign. Next time he comes, I'm going to spit on his food for causing me 10mins of distress while I was very busy. Some cocky customers out there who don't know the crap coming out of their mouths.
