Gotta agree with you there.

Second that. Especially Phil "Manchester United "McNulty - http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2009/07/owen_man_united.html

Hopefully two more injury plagued seasons.

Time to move for van Nistelrooy :teeth:

:yep: so we can trade :p:

That is a really good transfer for them if he can stay injury free and I think he will. It seems like the time for him to have an injury-free period in his career. I am gutted - more that they got him rather than we didn't.

:lolz:

To be fair I think they will both to equally well in the Prem if van Nistelrooy returned to England even though he's a bit older.

If Alonso was to go to Real (I bloody hope not), it would be a bit of a consolation to get some of their players as part of the deal like Sneijder and van Nistelrooy.

Maybe Rafa will give more thought to bringing van Nistelrooy in after that Owen transfer to United. One good thing to come out of that.
They'd do much the same job. van Nistelrooy isn't even mediachat though... it's forum chat.

I'd be ******* over the moon if we got RVN! Fat chance like... but I reckon he'd bag us a lot of goals

Wise move by Fergie on Owen though. Owen won't be getting injured. He'll barely move. He just needs to use his natural poaching skills and rely on Rooney/Berbs.
Owen will probably fall into the same scenario he had in Real Madrid, a shark dipping into another tank, but discovering that the tank is full of killer whales.

michael always scores the goals
we're supposed to be getting Alvaro Negredo as part of the deal which sees Xabi move the other way. Honestly, I don't think Bentiez will sell him unless they pay silly money, like £40 Millon Euro, or 30m Euro + Negredo.
I think anything less, and were being scammed. I've heard Negredo is class act though.

Having watched Negredo alot he looks more of a Prem player than a La Liga one, a tall target man that can hold up the ball very well.

Who will Benitez replace Alonso with though?
Barça

That is the million (or rather 25 million!) dollar question...

Lorik Cana? (some random links in a paper)

Need someone creative to replace Alonso with - he is basically a deep lying playmaker of which they are very few players in that position who are quality in world football today - Xavi, Pirlo, Lucas etc....

Wouldn't mind Hernanes, Martínez, Moutinho or someone of that ilk. Whatever, I'm sure we are not finished at Johnson yet and Rafa has something up his sleeve.

Was about to say that, using this :lolwut:

Hernanes would be a good start, he looks better than Lucas and should be in Europe.

Hands off. The guy's going to carry Fabregas next season. Just like he did Nasri.

Im not so sure..
I only say that because in the past, we've needed someone to create and thats needed to be Alonso cos the rest if the team cant do it enough. They go sidewards and backwards but Alonso would go forwards and create.
With players like Torres who can create out of nothing and attacking fullbacks like Johnson and Insua/Aurelio who can beat a man/some pace and hopefully can cross; we might not be so dependent on an Alonso mold? We'll still need a creative CM but he might not need to be so specialist as the likes of Alonso/Pirlo/Xavi.
Shame Riquelme is getting old... :p:
