I did 5 AS and 3 A2 and only having 3 didnt do me any harm. (5th AS was done over 2 years with half the no. of lessons per week)

Cos I would rather have :
A2 - AAA
AS - A

than

A2 - BBBB

This wouldn't even happen though. It would be more likely
A2 - AAAB or AABB

But, IMPORTANTLY, if you do not know exactly what you want to do at uni - so what qualifications you will need, doing 4 or 5 A-levels will give you more choice.

i thought they asked you to do step regardless of A-level number?

I know a few people who do maths at Warwick, and they had an offer of AAA plus a step paper, or AAAA without doing a step paper. I don't know if the system has changed now.

i am trying to decide between 4 or 5 as well. :s-smilie:. i did maths AS in school, so i might go straight into A2 in year 12. hopefully if i learn everything well and get a good grade i can do a 5th AS in the second year. Can you do AS's in the 2nd year?

some people say they r doing 5 but they could be like really bad, less valuable ones like sociology or something. thats not impressive, just interesting.
