Re: List of useful Kent Uni threadsHaha, no problem! Bombard away(Original post by Coco_love)
OK now that you have said that I gonna bombard you with questions..
1.) Are the Parkwood flats a long walk away from the main campus?
2.) How are the rooms like in the Parkwood Flats?
3.) Is it easy to make friends when living in the flats?
and finally .. since you are currently there now what do you think of the flats, any advice and if you could go back to when you were doing the accomdation application would you change your choice?
Thanks in advance
!

1) Parkwood flats are the furthest away from campus, I'm not gonna lie! But I live in Bossenden Court, which is pretty much the furthest away from campus you can get. I'd say it takes me 10 minutes to walk to central campus? It really doesn't take that long to walk. Oh, and if you're feeling particularly lazy you can take the bus from Park Wood to central campus
2) The rooms are niiice. They're quite big (in my opinion, in comparison to what I've seen at some other unis) and obviously it's awesome having the en-suite! You get a bed, bedside table, armchair, desk with drawers, desk chair, wardrobe, drawers for clothes, a bookshelf and a shelf over the door (which I use to keep my suitcase on and canned goods etc if there isn't room in my cupboard in the kitchen). If you want to see what the rooms look like then I can take some photos tomorrow and put them on?
3) I think it is easy-ish to make friends, yeah. Obviously I don't have anything to compare it with though
In my flat, we all got on really well in freshers week so we kinda kept to ourselves for the beginning of the year, but a lot of the people got to know people from other flats because of parties etc. If you want to find friends then you can
But, from my experience, you make a lot of friends on your course as well. And then you get introduced to friends of friends etc.
4) No, I wouldn't change it. Tyler Court was actually my first choice but I didn't get it. I have a friend who lives there though, and I've got to say I prefer Park Wood. There's more of a community feel. And I kinda like not being on central campus. My friend in Tyler shares a flat with something like 11 other people (don't hold me to that, I'm not actually sure of the number) and she only knows like 2-3 of them.
I think that covers everything you asked

I missed seeing Park Wood on my open day so I had no idea what my room would be like until I got here.
Yay! You won't regret it!

Re: List of useful Kent Uni threadsJust a quick question, is it quite common that you don't get your first preference? & what month did you first apply for your accommodation? I've put Tyler B/C as my first choice too and parkwood second. Would be quite happy with either I think(Original post by >Anna<)

Re: List of useful Kent Uni threadsHmmm, I'm not entirely sure because my application was messed up! I applied in early May and then I didn't hear anything on results day and panicked slightly, called them up to confirm my application and they told me they had no record of one and that I'd have to do it all over again (and end up right at the back of the queue)! I completely freaked out and was a mess for days. Myself and my family kicked up a lot of fuss and then they speedily sorted me out with an offer of my lovely flat.(Original post by zzhahahoho)

As far as I know, most of my friends got their first choice. Not everyone does though. I remember a girl I'd met at a course in London, who'd happened to apply for the same course at Kent as me, got offered a park wood house and was completely dismayed (she wanted an en-suite, I think) but she's perfectly happy now. In fact, she's even dating one of her housemates! The earlier you apply, the more chance you stand of getting what you want. Tyler or Park Wood, I'm sure you'll be very happy
