Is it worth playing FFXIII-2 if I haven't played XIII? Couldn't get through XIII, the game was so boring and it didn't improve after 6 hours so I sold it.

The FFVII remaster for PC looks interesting.. and stupid. Can't imagine it looking much better than the current VII with all the graphical and texture mods.
The battle system is very much the same with some changes and improvements. I wouldn't play XIII-2 without playing XIII first though. If you found XIII boring after 6 hours I wouldn't bother.

I read all the problems like linearity were fixed in XIII-2 though?

It's definitely less linear, but it's still a very similar game. If you're only willing to give it 6 hours like you did XIII then you might be disappointed.

I think FFXIII-2 is one of the least linear FF games around. Quite literally considering it involves time travel.

Maybe rent it and see if you like it. If you didn't like the battle system in XIII, then you probably won't like it. But if it was the extreme linearity that bored you, then you might do.

I got used to the battle system after not that long, but XIII pretty much did nothing for the time I played it. Even FFX which could have done with being less linear wasn't that bad since everything else was good at the beginning. What about the story? Will I get it without playing XIII, or is it worth watching a few cutscenes and reading the plot?

I think reading a plot summary would be fine. The story does follow on directly from the end of FFXIII, but apart from that it's fairly independent. A lot of the details aren't important to FFXIII-2. You only need to know about the main events.

One possibility is that they're actually renaming and adapting it to FFXV. Apparently that's similar to what happened with FFIX. It was going to be a spin off title to begin with but then they decided to make it a main series FF game.
Did some googling and saw the leak clip, if that is true looks like it is not going to be a PS whatever exclusive. That's not going to settle well with people.

Finally got XIII-2 in the disk tray. Just looking at some of the achievements, are they really hard to get?

Not really, just some 100%ers, meaning some hard battles to get fragments e.t.c.

Getting all of them took me less time than getting all the trophies in XIII. So I don't think they're particularly hard. Some are a little annoying though.

So apparently Vs XIII hasn't been cancelled after all. Good to know.

Yeah, I do wonder if it was a play on the part of game "journalist" to try and get some news out of Square Enix.

    If so well played.

Now the question to answer is what will come out first The Last Guardian or Final Fantasy Versus 13.

    Or Duke Nukem Forever.

I started a game on FFXIII-2 . I have to say, I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. I hope it ends the same way it's begun - I'm currently on Oerba 200 AF.

It's been so long since I heard any news about it, I was starting to worry it had been cancelled.

    I'll Google for an update.

Getting quite into XIII-2 now. The battle system is actually quite good, even though I was very hesitent at first whether or not there would be a significant improvement. It reminds me of Enchanted Arms in the way you can assign monsters to help your fight and level them up. It's really cool.

Final Fantasy XIII-3 will be announced next month.

I wonder if it will be more of the same (similar battle system to XIII and XIII-2) or something quite different. I suspect it will be more of the same.

I'll almost definitely buy it, and I'll probably like it, but I would prefer it if they just made a completely new FF instead.
