Argh!

I can't what I am going through at the moment. My dad has totally gone bonkers!

Last night I couldn't sleep for some reason, so I spent the night watching House MD on my laptop. When he came in my room in the morning and found me up - he totally went berserk! But after a while he went away.

By then I was kind of tired so I shut down my laptop and went to sleep. A couple of minutes he came around (It was 8 a.m.) and told me to get up and get ready - he wanted me to go with him to his office!

Although I was tired as ****, I got up, took a shower and got ready. He told me to take my books along with me because he wanted me to spend the day studying in his office (I am 17 years old and off from school for the summer! Jeez!)

Basically, he didn't want me to sleep - he wanted to teach me a 'lesson'. I managed to hold my self together for a while but then my mind seriously started to mess up. I could hardly keep my eyes open and began to have these suicidal thoughts. He actually had me wishing for death!

Later when we came home, he told me he wanted me to come along with him for a game of Golf. I was almost at the verge of tears but I tried hard to keep myself composed.

Seeing how I looked totally looked like **** - my mom somehow managed to convince my dad to let me stay home. But he made me promise; he made me promise that I wouldn't sleep.

So here I am (it's 6:03 p.m. right now)...all day he's been a chuckling. He seems so pleased to have come up with the perfect punishment. Punishment for what?! For staying up all night during my vacations! I honestly feel like punching him in the face!!! What a ******* bastard. Asshole.

Am I the only one who's thinking maybe you've been taught a lesson?

Although to completely contradict my post and probably mess up your sleep schedule even more:

He probably finds walking up for work really difficult, and thinks you are wasting time and being lazy. Been there, done that, bought the flippin t shirt. By being all sleepy in the office he feels like he was punishing you, all you need to do is actually sleep and if he tries to wake you up cause a commotion. He won't want you back.

I dunno...

Of course it's unfair of him to make you stay up all day when it's the Summer holidays for you, but he obviously doesn't want to see you waste the Summer lazing about and watching TV until the early hours. Surely you can see where he's coming from?

If you can't, then just bear in mind that you won't be there much longer and you'll probably be at uni :smile:

I can't believe how ridiculous all you people are. What the hell is wrong with you people?! It's his vacations, he's 17 and he can do whatever he likes with his time! To be honest, I think this dad should be taken to a desolate area and be beaten to an inch of his life.. with a laptop.

I see the error of my ways... suggesting that staying up for 24 hours isn't too bad was obviously a stupid thing to say when I could've gone straight in with the 'ZOMG CHILD CRUELTY BEAT HIM 2 DEATHS WIF A LAPTOP NAO' card. Shame on me :no:

Anon, get the hell off the laptop, get a hot milk and go to bloody sleep. Don't bloody moan if you're going to sit up and post on TSR all night, ffs.

What a waste; cocaine won't do anything if you swallow it. I was with a friend once when he accidentally drank half a g, and all he got was the runs.

I'd go beserk if I found my kid was watching ***** TV programmes all night instead of sleeping too.

It's only 24 hours, and the lesson that your Dad is trying to teach you (in a perfectly fine way, tbh, my parents would do the same) is that you have to get by on no sleep sometimes. Besides, if it's 6pm there, then you've only got a few hours until 9pm, which is acceptable sleeping time.

not to be confrontational but how is that a life lesson?! When does anyone have to get by on no sleep!

Anyway op, i think he was overreacting. If you can't stay up watching crap tv at 17 in the school holidays- when can you?! It's not like you were affecting him, as long as you do whatever is expected of you round the house and aren't moody from being tired i don't see the problem.
