The difference between AS and A-levels, is that AS is the first half of the A-level, while A-levle is the full qualification at the end of upper six (year 13). The second half is called A2. AS (first half)+A2 (second half)=A-level

You need a full A-level to go to university (minimum of 3). Some uni's might include 3 A-levels and 1 AS though.

Hee Hee, I went on holiday with about 50 Scots and we spent forever trying to work out the differences between the two systems. What threw me was that you guys apparently do a year less????

you can get into a lot of uni's with only 2 full a levels and one as
You can (***in theory***) get into a university just on AS's

E.G if a univeristy wants 240pts, then you can get that by acheiving AAAA in AS year!

but no one ever does that and is unlikely that the uni will take you with just AS's
