    Hi there guys!
My name is Natalia and I'm from Chile. My fiancé and me will be starting master degrees next September, and we were wondering if you had any information on the main differences between the studios for couples in Pritchatts Road and the apartments for couples in Shackleton.
    We would really appreciate it!

when i asked the same query with accommodation staff i got reply saying " major difference is in the layout of the flat" ...apartment is bigger than studio.. in some there may be separate bedroom in apartment , but in studio there may be just a partition.. so its more the same with the facilities .. for exact difference between
the studios for couples in Pritchatts Road and the apartments for couples in Shackleton better write a mail to accommodation service team and by the way for what course u guys coming ??

    Hi there!

I wrote the accommodation service team, but it's like they copy and paste information from the website, without answering my questions. I wrote them again asking for more info.

My fiancé is sudying the MA in Philosphy of Mind and Cognitive Science and I'm going to study the MA in International Studies in Education with International Development pathway. What about you?

    I'm so excited!

Yes they don give practical information but rather just say at high level.. just wait and see if any others who already lived there may reply and also post it in other threads like.. accommodation, ask current student etc.. and also hurry up as demand for couple accommodation would be high

And i am joining for Mres course in computational neuroscience and cognitive robotics and comes under psychology dept. Probably your husband would be studying similar subject of mine in arts stream..
I am also very much excited hope to see you guys soon

    Hi Natalia,

I'm not sure about the differences as I have never seen the studios in Pritchatts Road but I do live in a apartment in Shackleton. If you give me an email address I send you some pictures of our apartment so you can see what they're like?

I'm not quite sure what to choose as my social status - although I like going out and partying, I'm not inclined to do it frequently. However, I really don't want to be put in a flat where everyone stays in and studies. Any advice?
    (Original post by fish99)
    Hi there,

I know you've just been given some advice on this and what I'm going to say isn't going to help as it will probably confuse you but I would be careful about what you put down. I was in EXACTLY the same position as you were last year and I put down social/late riser which turned out to be a mistake. My flatmates went out almost everyday of the week and it was wasn't that great to be honest. I know you're concerned that if you put quiet and hardworking you may not go out at all but that could happen with the sociable one and you may find your flatmates going out all of the time. I'm not suggesting that you put down the quiet status, just that you think about it.

    Hope that helps
I was in the same position too! I was worried people would go out ALL the time so I put quiet and ended up with people who never went out at all. They also got annoyed when I had friends around. I assumed quiet flats would still go out just not as often but in my case this didn't happen. I really regret it now because I didn't meet many people and saw others going out and felt as if I was missing out. I'm restarting this year and putting social, hopefully it wont be the opposite extreme but somewhere in the middle.

I know a flat where there's a few quiet people, a few social and then a few sporty. In mine everyone put quiet though. I think it's just luck really! I'm putting social and then if I don't like my flat I'll see if I can move.

Hmm i was also confused ... but later felt to choose the option silent & studious even though i am not so studious.. more over i don think its only the flat mates with whom you go out right ...i am very adaptable and prefer a balanced diet (equal preference for fun, sports, studies and all )so ..no worries.. just chill

I'm sure it will be fine then! I think the options are quite silly really, lots of people fit into all 3. As long as you meet other people to go out with it wont matter too much if your flatmates are really quiet

I emailed the accommodation services regarding when I'd receive an accommodation offer (because I now hold an unconditional offer from Bham) and was told they'd start allocating the unconditional students within the next 7 days, in case anyone's interested.

Currently there are no Facebook Pages for the individual halls. They are being chased and should be up in the next couple of weeks.
