Also, as a final point I just wanted to make, career-wise you'll be fine from York. This is a breakdown of employment statistics and the sorts of sectors graduates work in.

Only 22% got a job through the normal application process via the employers websites, with an additional 8% through the careers service (what does this even mean?).That is rubbish to be honest.

Well, when you consider that 20% "don't remember" or didn't answer the question, and a further 2.5% got it through a newspaper, thats a fairly large proportion really (nearly 1/2). Not really sure what the careers service is, but what the hell is "speculative application"?!

The Careers Service is a thing at Uni that organise careers fairs, give you careers advice, post job offers, etc.

You send off your CV and a covering letter on the off chance of there being a vacancy or them liking your application so much they offer you a job despite no vacancy being advertise.
