So how many of you buy this omega rubbish? This question is meant literally and colloquially. I've tried flaxseed oil and it looks like I'm going to have to add it to curry sauce to take the taste away, as it's awful. Going to have to stock up on Phaal curry sauce or Vindaloo then.

If anyone's missing out on dairy milk try Kara's dairy free coconut milk. There is now a chocolate edition. Fortified with vitamin B12 and vitamin D. I tried hemp milk and wasn't too keen.

Can't you just take capsules and swallow them whole? Or are they not vegan?

You can get veggie ones from holland and barrett but not sure if they're vegan or not- not vegan myself so don't know about all the ingredients.

    http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pag...id=768&cid=208

Also not sure if they're crazy expensive or anything, know about them from a friend who used to be veggie and take every vitamin/mineral under the sun :P

Wasn't sure but I worked out I was getting 10 times the amount of omegas each day per Pound Sterling. Tbh if I find the receipt I'll take the unopened ones back and see if I can replace them with capsule ones if they are suitable for me, or vitamin B-12 if they work from capsules. It wouldn't be so bad for the lingering aftertaste as it "sticks" onto my lips. I know some capsules are made with gelatine so I can't have them. Is pectin that expensive?

I tried it mixed in with Vindaloo curry sauce and that didn't wipe out all the taste and I don't fancy using jalepeno chillis every day should Phaal not be strong enough.

Yeah, I think the friend I mentioned was caught out a bit at first an accidentally got ones with gelatine. It's annoying! But even more annoying is the use of cochineal in stuff where it's completely not needed, in fact no colouring is needed, they just throw it in there to make it non-veggie! One of my pet peeves lol.

Oh I wouldn't mind if it was needed. H+B do veggie flaxseed capsules but I never bothered getting them when I returned the oils earlier today. They don't say if they're suitable for vegans as some of their own products do. I had them in my basket but I took them out before I took my shopping to the till as I'd like to forget I even bothered to taste the damn stuff. Bought some hemp and flaxseed stuff to go onto cereals etc. I've found an overuse of whey powder in Sainsbury's products where it's not necessary, as Tesco ones do not have them, e.g. Bombay potato and Nice biscuits. I first noticed this when I saw Sainsbury's dark chocolate having whey powder in it and it made me think whether it should legally be called dark chocolate if it has milk in it. People question whether Caramac is chocolate over the lack of cocoa content so it's not unfounded. As for colourings, it reminded me of the crushed beetles being used in red smarties. Why have chocolate when you can have fruit?

How come? Has something specific happened to make you not care? Or just a general lack of motivation for opinions lately? Just asking add I'm guessing you wanted to talk about it as you posted

I originally came to vegetarianism through a vegan who used Peta videos to pretty much brainwash me. I've stuck with it because until recently I really did care about the treatment of animals and their lives. Recently, my dog died and it just got me thinking, why not do something with the animals' deaths, seeing as we are all going to die anyway.

I recognise part of it is in response to losing my dog, who was only 7, but still. Part of me wonders whether it's just the affects from the girl wearing off or what.

Well, you could try doing done of your own research. Look in to various sources- including ones that sell meat, for example farms or supermarkets. You'll probably feel a lot better about it when you have decided for yourself whether you like eating meat in general and whether you are ok with the way our industry is.

You might find there are other reasons you don't want to eat meat (I just don't like the idea of eating flesh and can't separate one animal from another eg I wouldn't want to kill a cat!). Of course with the thing you mentioned above animals which we eat for meat don't just die and get eaten- they are killed.

You might find though that you decide that you're ok with eating meat now... At the end of the day you should do what you feel is ok. I'm sure this thread can give you plenty of reasons to be veggie, but you should only go with them if you agree with them. Explore the issue properly or you'll be resenting it- you may well be feeling that you don't want to be veggie just because you don't like how this girl tried to force you.

Also, sorry to hear about your dog its always hard losing pets. Hope you feel a bit better soon.

I've found the Life version is the best I've tried. There's also another version in a jar that I can't remember the name of, but I don't think it's as nice. You should easily find it in the Free From aisle in the supermarket or health store (including Holland and Barrett).
