Human and Medical Science @ Westminster University

I was just wondering has any one completed or is on the course right now, I would like to hear from you. I just would like the following questions to be answered. How did you find the course organised, challenging etc? What did you think of the facility offered? Do you know any who has completed this course and gone on to do medicine? Are you doing medicine after completing this course? What do you plan to do after you have completed the degree?

Here is the link for the course https://srs21live.wmin.ac.uk/ipp/U09FUHMS.htm

I know lots of question but I am curious  Thank you!
Anyone?

I think you would be best to contact someone on Facebook about this - I know Westminster have a bioscience group and someone there would be able to tell you a bit more about the Human and Medical Science pathway.

I do know that it is a new degree - so new that I think the first third year cohort are actually starting this September/October - no one has actually graduated from this pathway yet - so they wouldn't be able to tell you what they did afterwards - but some second and third years might be able to give you general information on what you will be studying etc. Hope this helps.

Link below for general University of Westminster – you’ll have to search for the bioscience society – I’m not a member of Facebook – but if you are you will definitely find someone in this society who is reading Human and Medical Science I'm sure.

Thanks for the reply, it being a new degree I am not so sure I phoned Westminster and they said it had been running for over 5 to 6 years. Never mind thanks for the link I hope to find some in the science department who can answer my question.

I'm not really sure if you were speaking to the right people - if it was admin staff they may not have the correct information. You are best to clarify this with the course leader - the link above shows it to be a Dr. Mark Kerrigan - send him an e-mail and ask these questions to clarify.

It does say in the following link that many of the degrees they have in Human and Health Sciences department were only validated in the last 3 to 5 years - like I said your best bet is to search on Facebook as suggested.

...Many of these degrees underwent initial validation in the last 3-5 years...

Like I said you have nothing to lose by searching on Facebook (if you are a memeber) for the bioscience society University of Westminster and posting a friendly message for more info on Human and Medical Science.

Actually here is the link:

Hope it helps, I am pretty sure that I saw someone mention that this was a very new degree though, apologise but can't rememeber where I saw this - but like I said to clarify and get some of your questions answered - speak to the person who runs the course.

Thanks I email the Dr Mark I got a reply in one hour on a Sunday, strange. I also confirmed some information which I was given by the administration staff, It seems I was given the wrong information, the course apparently the course has been running for three years and this year are the only first graduate.

Thanks for the link above I shall get in contact with someone in the Bioscience department.

Hi, I'm a third year BSc Psychology with Neuroscience student at the University of Westminster and I know a few 3rd years who are on the BSc Human and Medical Science course. The people I have spoken to thoroughly enjoy the content of the course and speak very highly of the course leader Mark Kerrigan who is an excellent lecturer (I attended his Physiology and Anatomy lectures in my first year). Human and Medical Science students have also told me they appreciate the academic support Mark has given them alongside his encouragement for them to become independent learners and to aim high and apply for graduate entry to medicine. The students on the course are very driven because many of them do want to become doctors. If you have any other questions regarding the university please feel free to ask.

I mean, it sounds brilliant by the name of it. LOL.
But I dont know how it will be really like. And after 3 years, medicine may even become a impossible choice for us and they may introduce strict entry requirements with top Alevels even for the post graduate applicants.
Its a huge risk to play.

I got accepted without an interview and i assume you did to. Coz i dont think many people would have applied for it so they didnt bother doing the interview. LOL

You will be doing this 4 year course with a strong hope that you ll get into med but you gota think that over again. It may be just a waste of 3 years. Really hope not though.
Hey guys! I've also got an offer for the course (without the foundation)!
Anybody firmed westminster yet?

I finished the foundation year for this course so I'm starting the degree this year. I'm actually thinking on changing the course because I don't know if I'm going to study medicine after this degree so... for those who are not sure and changed their mind, you can still change your course within two weeks of starting the course after that you can't however I was told that we can also change the course before year 2 so I guess there's still time to think about it carefully
