The We Hate John Terry Thread
First off id like to say im a Chelsea fan. Not a glory fan, a real fan. I'm 18 and my favourite captain has always been Dennis Wise, loyal and heart of your sleeve style of player. Complete opposite of JT. JT is a great player, but if as an England captain to be money laundering is pathetic. I don't want him as Chelsea captain. I'd rather have Lampard. When he was going to leave it was for genuine reasons, not because he wanted an extra 30k a week.
So who here thinks Terry should be stripped of captaincy? Or who backs his claim 'It was never about a new contract'. -
Re: The We Hate John Terry ThreadLegends don't throw a hissy fit over a few grand though. Lampard wouldn't necessarily have to be captain, Essien A.Cole and J.Cole could all do it.(Original post by douchebagz)
Lampards a good player, but that doesn't necessarily make him a good captain. J.T leads by example and commands from the back. He a Chelsea and england lad through and through. -

I'm a chelsea fan too, I'm glad he's staying, chelsea through and through - he's a brilliant captain. -
Re: The We Hate John Terry ThreadBarca reportedly offered him more money. Don't seem him spending three weeks considering it before making a false statement about fans and love for the club. Cole is Chelsea. Might have been disloyal to Arsenal, but to be fair he was the only Englishman at the entire club.(Original post by Jimi Haze)

I've never used this word before, and I don't really know what it means but i'm guessing it applies here:
TROLL! -
Re: The We Hate John Terry ThreadYou may have a point, I'm just saying - you're probably going to get a bit of stick for that statement. Joe Cole wouldn't make a good Captain, Frank or Essien yes mind.(Original post by Lordzola)

Yes the whole JT situation has been rather frustrating and yes not declaring the whole thing in the first place is really annoying and I can see where you're coming from but I also think we should be thankful that he has decided to remain at the club whereas others from other clubs have taken a different view completely.
Quality player and Captain, he'll become a Chelsea legend... despite this little blip. -
Re: The We Hate John Terry Thread
I don't like John Terry. He comes across as an arrogant thug who has always interfered in matters on the pitch and he acts like he's got more authority than the referee. Also milked the Man City thing to get himself a better wage. Once he got his contract renegotiated from £135k per week to whatever it's going to be now he rejected Man City. The level of greed this man shows is ridiculous. Don't think he's right choice for England captain either, Scolari influenced Capello's decision on that matter. Not an extremely intelligent defender either, Vidic is better. Essien should be captain after Terry retires.

Re: The We Hate John Terry Thread
I'm a Chelsea fan.
I'm truly torn on this issue. John Terry has been at Chelsea for his whole career. That shows a degree of loyalty, don't you think? And who are we to truly know why he didn't make a statement earlier. Maybe it was for the money, or maybe it was the directors trying to get more money, maybe actually wanting to sell him (if it was, I feel very let down by them). Maybe it was just confusion on JT's part. All I know is that he seemed sincere in his interview this morning, and I'm glad he stayed.
As for the captaincy role, I think the only possible player would be Frank, but he doesn't have the same history at the club that John had. He came from West Ham, after all, and although he's proven his loyalty and commitment throughout the years, John Terry's partisanship and continued effort and ambition have in my eyes, been enough to warrant him being captain of Chelsea.
For the England role, I think changing captain now would do more harm than good as far as the world cup campaign is concerned, and I think because of this he should remain captain. At the time the decision was made, I thought John was the best man for the job, and I still believe that today. It's not as if Gerrard or Ferdinand have impeccable records either, when it comes to loyalty (Gerrard of course was linked with Chelsea several seasons ago, and the saga was reminiscent of the JT one) or personal lives. -
Re: The We Hate John Terry ThreadOk i may have gone a little OTT on my original statement. Terry is a quality player and in the past a great captain and leader. It frustrates me the naivety of fans to suddenly declare JT as even greater than before because he bottled a move to Man City. Chelsea will be stronger with JT. Joey Cole wouldn't make a good captain as i don't think he has a first team place next season, considering how injury prone he is and how many midfielders we have [Plus Pirlo or someone similar soon i presume]. Ashley Cole could be an ok captain, Lamps is the natural choice and Drogba is vocal but he isn't loyal and hasn't grasped what being a good sport is.(Original post by Jimi Haze)

Hell, I'm an Arsenal fan and I think he's good. Not as good as some people make out, but he's better than a lot of other defenders.
Having said that, his tantrums do annoy me. And this Man City thing. But no-one can really say they hate him for that - DO THEY EVEN KNOW HIM?! No, therefore I think "dislike" is a better word.

John Terry's been at Chelsea since he was fourteen. How long could he have been at West Ham for to establish a connection.(Original post by douchebagz)
