Hey JainexX, don't worry most people won't have that much experience, check out some of the popular faq topics on the summer camp forum here, should be some really useful advice on it for you -

This isn't even the full application though! once you have your interview you have another longer application to fill out!

LOL, really? haha.

What does the other application ask?

Because i was wondering... isn't there an option of being a general counsellor, specialist counsellor e.t.c?

I don't think there is an option, I think CA just determine whether you would be good enough as a specialist and if not they try and place you asa general councillor.

I'm really not sure at all! I love kids, being outside etc but I don't really have any hobbies that would sell me so to speak. I go walking a bit but I don't think that would make a great picture. I'm also into crafts and drama etc - also doesnt make a good picture.

I'm pretty sure people on the 2009 Camp America thread said they had used pictures of them doing crafts with children. After all, it is something that most camps have as an activity.

Is anyone else wanting to work in the office rather than as a counsellor?

I'm applying for both. I think I'd rather work in the office but I'm not sure at the moment. Problem of getting a picture of crafts with children is that its actually been disallowed by all the places I work with children! Not really sure what I can do about that!

Oh and do the pictures get added before or after interview?

Pictures get added before interview! Try and take them along to your actual interview as well =] And as for the arts and crafts thing can you not ask your boss or whatever if it would be possible to take pictures of you with the kids making stuff provided you have permission from the parents?? If not can you not just ask cousins/sister/brothers/random kids from the street to come pose in a picture pretending to make stuff??

Also, have you emailed them telling them you are applying for both? Because if you pay your deposit and any more fees then decide to do the other you lose all the money you paid, you only get it back if they can't find you a place. Why don't you wait a bit and then apply once you have decided? Its very very very very early to apply! Most people don't apply till after november/december when they start to think about what they would actually like to do this summer. Thats why I'm not in any rush to complete my application form!!

I don't understand what you mean? There is the option to apply for both types of camp at once so why would that mean I would lose my deposit?
I just want to keep my options open for as long as possible.
I need to get all this stuff done early, as I want to know if I have been accepted so I can plan around it. I want to go into teaching, so if I can't do camp america I'm going to try and take a place at and English Language teaching school over summer.

Its not clear on the site either what you need to do before interview and what you need to do after.

I'm gonna make some sort of FAQ for summer camp work at some point in the near future as it gets so repetitive with the same questions being asked constantly so watch this space Otherwise, look at the 2009 thread as every single question you could possibly ask will have already been asked there!

Ive been trying to compare the Camp America prices to the CCUSA prices 2010, but on the CCUSA site, it just says the table below shows what you pay. Is it just me that cant see the table?

CCUSA is cheaper!! on the right hand side it says that if you apply before the 1st of September, it'll cost you £299... insurance, camp placement, return flight, food, travel to camp all included (but you will have to pay all at once)
