Me, too. I shall be doing politics. The course at York looks good because it has lots of philosophical stuff about politics, which I enjoy.

For politics students: Why did you decide to study politics and why did you decide to go to York?

I will be studying History and Politics.

I got interested in Politics in a quite uncommon way I suppose...apart from being averagely interested in current politics for a longer time, I really considered studying it when we talked about Hobbes and Rousseau in our History lessons...and then I got more interested in other areas of politics like comparative politics. I think it's really fascinating to see the connection between my two subjects.

Politics-wise I decided to study in York because I liked the course structure, giving you a good overview and then enabling you to specialize in the areas you're most interested in and the specializations (especially in the field of political theory) of York also matched my interests.

Ahoy.

PPE here. Seemed to be the only degree I felt even remotely interested in doing, and York's one of the best (and only, at that) places around that runs the course.
Spent some time visiting a friend there over the past year, and fell in love with the place. October can't roll around soon enough.

I love Philosophy and Political Theory/IR. Economics has done a lot of growing on me this year, too, thankfully- it was a bit of a shot in the dark when I applied in the last cycle. Rousseau and Machiavelli have to be my favourites, as far as reading material goes- although I can't say I've done anywhere near as much reading as I'd have liked to over my year out.

Has anyone noticed, by the way, that the book we had to buy was written by the head of politics at York?

Crafty feckers...

Aye.

Its saving grace is that it's actually good, though.

I'm doing History/Politics. Before starting AS year I was planning to just do History. I was of course interested in current affairs at the time, but really it was doing Politics at A Level that got me really interest in the subject

Came through the post for me along with a form to fill out to decide between a "Great Political Texts" module and a workshop module. Came a while ago, perhaps you should contact York?

Me too. Did you get the e-mail from the department? I currently have 4 hours on the timetable including my Democratic Traditions seminar (Group 3). Even with my Economics module (which apparently we won't be able to see until we register) it looks pretty bare.

So we have per week:

Democratic Traditions Seminar - 1hr
Democratic Traditions Lectures - 2hrs
Workshop - 1hr
Extra module (Economics as well) - 1hr

5 hours!?

(group for seminar didn't correspond with group on the list of groups on pdf oh well)
