    Steal every time. Every time.

    Just basic game theory really.

    I'd probably split.

Can't the two contestants just write a little contract (in secret, off camera) before saying that they'll split regardless? :lolwut:

I was thinking I'd steal, but then after watching that video again, I'd have to split.

I love how the complexity of the decision is whittled down to choosing to steal because game theory tells you to... yeah, if everyone uses this logic then the chance of winning any money equals zero, well done :clap2:

Steal, obviously. I'd just say, 'Look, I'm going to steal, so either I get the money or massive corporation ITV get the money. So it's your decision. Also I'll give you about 20% of it"

Not everyone will steal though, that's evident from watching the programme.

people only choose to split if you convince them that you won't steal, so probability has nothing to do with it since you are affecting the outcome; if there was no communication between the two contestants then there would be no point in the game since neither will ever choose to split.

i'm not sure how they get the money, but i know the last bit. i think everyone should agree to split in the entire country, so everyone will win money from now on.

WOW how tricky. I would want to share it, but then again, they might choose steal, then they get it ALL... ahhhhhhhhh

    That's awful

I'd rather go home with a clean conscience than a rotten one, so split all the way!

I'd go on the show with the intention of splitting, but if I feel unable to trust the other person, I would steal.

If the money was a really low amount, I'd split. I would feel a bit embarrassed and sad if I chose to steal £50, for example!

If you feel guilty about 'stealing', then what's to stop you from sharing the money with them once it's in your hands?

Re: Golden Balls - would you split or steal?
Well I appeared on the first series of Golden Balls a couple of years ago and chose to split in the final round. I went there planning to tell the other person that I was going to steal and that if they chose to split I would divide the cash up evenly between us after the show. If they chose to steal we'd both definitely walk away with nothing.

However I was told on arrival they had to ban people from doing that as a few had come in with similar plans. As for making a deal with the other players off camera before/during filming - no chance, we were kept separate at all times.

If it was enough money to change my life I probably would steal it.

If it was just a few thousand that I could spend on nice things then I'd definitely split it.

It's not that I'm evil and want to steal it, I just don't want someone to take it off me.
