Monday: 08:30 - wake up and realise it's the worst day of the week, snooze button at least twice. 08:50 - leave for 9am foundations lecture 09:00 - foundations lecture, usually quite boring, but sometimes our dutch lecturer tells us to check his "web ****e" 10:00 - technology for the modern world (engineering elective) lecture - quite boring but no final exam, just multiple choice tests on DUO every term 11:00 - Programming and Data Structures practical - 2 hours long, but not uncommon to finish and leave after an hour. Usuaully involves implementing a data structure that the lecturer was talking about in the last lecture in java. 12:00 - arrive back at college 12:30 - lunch, usually potatoes and more potatoes, with a side dish of mystery meat (is it pork? is it chicken? beef? who knows) 13:00 - catch up with college friends for a bit 14:05 - leave for Systems Sandwich (2 Programming and Data Structures lectures, with a computer systems lecture in the middle) 14:15 - Programming and data structures lecture - sometimes have legendary lecturer that wears an afro wig and plays us songs on his accordian at "half time" 15:15 - Computer systems, usually quite interesting 16:15 - Programming and data structures lecture - getting bored by this point, resort to hangman 17:15 - Arrive back at college, see what college friends are up to 18:00 - dinner (a.k.a reheated lunch) 18:30 - do some work if i have any, if not watch tv or something 20:00 - go to college bar for a few drinks 23:00 - can i be bothered to go out? i've got a lie in tomorrow so really should

Tuesday: 12:00 - wake up 12:30 - lunch 13:15 - Formal aspects lecture (graph theory sub module, highly boring most of the time) 14:15 - Programming and data structures practical - general java, usually end up making some kind of game 16:15 - Done for the day, doss about a bit, go to dinner, do whatevers going on in the evening

Wednesday: 08:40 - wake up 09:00 - Computer systems practical - usually not too challenging so can leave early 11:00 - done for the day - everyone has wednesday afternoons off so usually end up doing something with college friends, football on the meadow or something usually, then dinner, then hit the college bar, possibly go out

Thursday: 08:40 - wake up 09:00 - foundations of computer science lecture + practical, much the same as mondays 11:00 - done for the day, repeat wednesday from this point, somtimes go out in the evening

Friday: 08:40 - wake up 09:00 - computer systems lecture - usually quite interesting 10:00 - formal aspects lecture - logic, highly boring 11:00 - programming and data structures lecture (well, specifically data structures), usually pointless as his handouts are enough to understand the topic, him reading them at you doesn't really help much 12:00 - done, hit lunch at half past 13:00 - chill for a bit, nap maybe? 16:45 - Formal aspects practical, possibly worst time ever, should really ask to move to a different practical group, usually leave early 18:15 - done for the day, hit dinner 18:45 - doss for a bit 20:30 - pre-drinks, neck as much as possible 23:00 - planet of sound 03:00 - bed

Saturday: 12:30 - lunch, then doss for a bit, see what everyones up to 17:00 - dinner, repeat pre-drinking then revolver if can be bothered, if not go to the bar for a few drinks

Sunday: 12:30 - lunch, then doss for a bit, see what everyones up to 17:00 - dinner, then do some work if i have any, usually just end up going for a drink in the bar again

Monday: Get up at 11:30, quickly get ready and collect packed lunch from servery. Walk to Elvet Riverside for two hour sign language seminar (optional module). Eat packed lunch, bemoan forgetting to pick up a yoghurt. Walk back to room (slowly). Perhaps do some reading for lectures next day, distract room-mate from work. Decide to procrastinate and go to college gym. Suddenly it's 6, go to dinner. Complain about dinner to friends. Go back to room and watch some iPlayer. Around 8 wander to JCR to see if anything is going on. Drink/play pool/chat until 11. Persuade someone to get a burger from Paddy's with me. Around 12 go back to room, room gets invaded until 2. Go to sleep.

Tuesday: Get up at 10:30, after persuasion from room-mate. Sign up for Thursday formal! Go to Elvet Riverside for first lecture of day, fall asleep for a section. Lecture ends at 12, walk back to queue for lunch. Eat lunch and kill an hour sorting out lecture notes. Go to second lecture at 2:15. Worry that I haven't read what's being lectured on. After lecture kill time in DSU drinking hot chocolate. 5:15 final lecture of the day, very tired, very bored. After lecture rush back to castle to get ready in time for Tuesday formal. 6:45 buy wine from Undie and make way to Great Hall. Cork and be corked for a good hour. Get very tipsy and head to Undie, get changed at 10:00 then head to Studio at 11:00 for 50p entry. Around 1:30 tire of Studio, get chips and walk home.

Wednesday: Get up at 11:30 head for lecture. History of English Language - actually always interesting. No temptation to fall asleep. Go to castle for lunch. Regret not having got up for Wednesday breakfast as it's always cooked breakfast. Everyone else rushes off to play sport. I spend time learning lines or sleeping... mainly sleeping. Dinner at 6, Undie at 8. People try to persuade me to Loveshack but instead go and watch Flight of the Conchords in someone's room. Go back to room at 1ish to get an early night. Sleep.

Thursday: Get up at 10:45, panic at oversleeping and run to lecture. After lecture quickly go to library to return books before heading back to college for lunch. Attempt to write an essay in afternoon. Fail and go shopping. Start getting ready for formal at 6:00. Thursday formal at 7:00 - corking, corking, corking. Drunken antics from 8:00 until 10:00. Quick change before rushing to Klute before 10:45 to get in free. Dance in Klute realising how bad it truly is. Leave around 1:00, get chips from Dirty Jane's. Go back to common room for chattage. Realise it's 3:00 and hurry off to bed.

Friday: Get up at 11:30 and head to sign language seminar. Head back to college at 1:00 for fish and chips (yaaay!). Finally commit myself to writing an essay. Then visit people in their rooms to distract them from working. Dinner at 6:00, decide not to go to Hound. Spend evening in JCR then someone's room before going to bed at 2:00.

Saturday: Get up at 12:00 for brunch, get excited throughour brunch. Eat far too much. Go play lacrosse feeling a bit sick. Get back at 3:00. Have a siesta. Get up to read some of the stuff I forgot to read for last week. 5:30 head to dinner. Return to room for procrastination. Go to Undie at 8, get changed at 10:30 and head for Revolver. Dance until they turn the lights on, chant anti-Hatfield songs as we pass Hatfield. Bed at 3:00

Sunday: Get up at 12:00 for Sunday lunch, huge disappointment. Sign up for Tuesday formal. Spend afternoon essay-writing unsuccessfully. Ring parents to let them know I'm alive. 5:30 dinner, discover everyone is working. Spend until 8 working before going to watch film. Get to bed at 12:00. Celebrate the easy life of an English student.

OK so normally finalists have far fewer hours than previously, but since not many Linguists do dissertations expect about 12-14 hours a week (depending on seminars etc).

I'll go through my week as it has been this year.

Monday: 8am - breakfast in college, work, 12pm - Italian oral class, lunch in college, work, 3.15pm (fortnightly) Renaissance Italy seminar, back to college, work, dinner, work/choir for 2 hours

Tuesday: 8am - breakfast then free all day. I normally do work for most of the day and i will go for a wander in town and get provisions. Every other week I have a Dante seminar at 2.15. I will generally do any reading on a Tuesday as I can sit for long periods, and i find that more conducive to reading.

Wednesday: 8am - breakie then 9am Renaissance Italy lecture, then every fortnight 11am Writing and Criminality seminar. Lunch in college then the afternoon free for work/excercise. I might go to the gym or for a walk and do some work, like catch up with little grammar homeworks and things. Evening - orchestra for 2 hours and possible bar trip after.

Thursday: 8am- breakie then 9am Dante Lecture, 12pm French oral, then lunch then work for a few hours - then I have a 4.15 and 5.15 Romance of the Grail classes. Sometimes on a Thursday I go to formal which starts at 7pm sharp. If I go to formal I'll go to the bar after as well

Friday: 8am start again, then 11 and 12 o clocks followed by lunch and a 2.15 grammar seminar, after which I might go to the pub with mates until dinner and play cards or if I have a lot of work on the time will be spent working or going up to the library. Evening teds to be more relaxed - film with friends, trip to a bar or something...nobody works on Friday nights

Saturday: LIE IN! Followed by workity work and prob a stroll.

Sunday: ANOTHER LIE IN! I never eat in college on Sundays because I hate the food they serve, so I go to M&S for a salad or a sandwich or something, else i meet up with people and go to a cafe or something. Sometimes there are orchestra rehearsals on Sunday afternoons as well.

When I say work here that can relate to any number of things: homeworks (I normally have stuff for both oral classes and both grammar classes - normally get TONNES of stuff for French grammar), and then there's always seminar prep and reading to be done, plus generally reading all my core texts and then essays on top of that. Plus organisational/admin stuff for orchestra takes up a lot of my time as well. That's about it!

Monday: 8.15 (7.45 if I bother having a shower), get up, quick breakfast, leave at around 8.45 for 9am/10am chemistry lectures at the science site. 11-12, either go back to college or sit in the CLC computer room getting frustrated with how slow the laptops there are before 12pm MBOL (molecular Basis of Life) lecture. Back to college for lunch before returning to science site for 2.15 Genetics lecture. Either go back to college or stay for 4.15 Genetics lecture. In the evenings I have my college tutor hour at 7.45

Tuesday: Lie in! Get up at about 10 to 10 so I can get to breakfast, then either work or just sit around all morning till lunch. After lunch go to "Club Coffee" with DUSAGG (Scout and Guide group) briefly before chemistry labs at 2.15-5.15. Go back to college and work or something. Unless I have a bio tutorial that is (3 of the 4 this term were on Tuesdays)

Wednesday: Similar morning routine to Monday, for 9am DOL (Diversity of Life) lecture. Another DOL lecture at 11, sometimes go back in between. Usually have a chemistry tutorial at 12, so go to that then back to college for lunch. Then play college badminton 2-4, after which I generally just relax before dinner. Wednesdays tend to be popular for socials due to the free afternoon, and it's also free Klute night for Trevs.

Thursday: Again, 9am lecture, this time for MBOL, then a 10am CTS (Cells, Tissues, Systems) lecture. After this go back to college then after lunch return to science site for 1.15 CTS lecture. Go back to college again and usually nap or relax before 5.15 Chemistry lecture. Rush back from that as I have formal at 6.45 every other week. Generally spend time in the bar or hiding from the bar after formals depending on my mood.

Friday: Depends. A lot of weeks I have biology (CTS/MBOL/Genetics) labs in the morning from 9-12, then a Chemistry lecture at 12-1. Back to college for lunch, or, on the odd week when I have DOL labs in the afternoon, try and get food from the CLC cafe, but given I'm VERY picky with sandwiches (which are free with the new meal ticket system) I tend to go back. Generally relax in the evening, might try going to Planet of Sound at the DSU next term.

Saturday: Lie in, breakfast brunch, relax in the morning, lunch brunch, badminton 1-3, then catch up with any work. Work tends to consist of lab reports and tutorial questions mainly. May go into town or visit friends at other colleges. Sometimes Revolver at the DSU in the evening.

Sunday: Similar to Saturdays, without the badminton. Then in the evening there's "Pub Thing" with DUSAGG.

Yeah, I don't have much of an exciting life! Evenings and Weekends I either work or just chat to people around college/on my landing/in the bar unless there's something else on or I go to see friends elsewhere. Other than CC and PT there's usually one other DUSAGG event in the week, and occasionally weekend things. One weekend I even went to Edinburgh with a friend, and people sometimes go to Newcastle. Next term I'm planning to join another society or 2 that I either didn't find at the freshers fair or for some reason didn't go to. If I do, I'll make the relevant edits.

Physics

Year of Study: 4th year

College: St Aidan's

Monday: Get up, usually around 8:30, put the bins out and make breakfast. head up to the site and maybe get some reading done before Atomic and Optical Physics at 12. After that head up to my lab and do some lab work (for lab work read drink tea and play linux games) until about quarter to six when i head down to football fitness. do that and get stupidly tired and usually one of the other girls will come round for curry in the eve.

Tuesday: much of the same except get to the site for theoretical astro at ten. then have tea until another AOP at 12. labs all afternoon as well. them aliens arn't gonna find themselves. stay in on tuesday nights.

Wednesday: depends. if we;ve got an away match for football we could be meeting as ridiculously early as half eight. which wipes out the whole day. if its a home match i go to advanced astro at 11, then go home and grab a sandwich and my kit and head to the pitch for one. if we don't have a match would have training at two. football socials are on wednesday nights.

Thursday: gotta be up for a meeting with my supervisors at 10. i report i haven't found any aliens. they don't look surprised but tell me to keep looking. then its pub lunch hangover cure and gossip about the night before with the footballers. usually miss my 1:15 advanced astro. but make it up to labs in the aft. football training from eight till ten in the eve.

Friday: I panic that i haven't done my weekly homeworks due in at 2:15 and frantically try and get them done in the morning. head to theoretical astro at 12 and pray someone in my lectures has done them. eventually scrape together some to hand in. doss about most of friday afternoon. maybe go to tesco, do some shopping. sometimes head to planet on friday nights

Weekend: usually college football and rugby matches on. so i play them. and go to revolver sometimes. so yeah. brill.

Law

Year of Study: 1st year

College: St Cuth's

Monday: 10:30am – Roll out of bed, shower, breakfast and rush to Elvet Riverside in time for a Tort lecture (11-12pm), walk to Cuth’s for lunch with friends – spend about an hour and a half in the dining call catching up with people. 2:15pm, head back to my room to pick up stuff I need for Contract. 2:45pm, leave to Elvet Riverside again via the Law Library to drop off some borrowed books, Contract lecture (3:15-4:15pm). Meet friends afterwards at Chapters for coffee until 5:30pm. Head to Cuths for dinner (6:00-7:00pm), and agree to meet for pre-drinks and klute.

Go back to my room, finish off the reading for a tutorial I have on Thursday. Around 9:00pm head to my friend’s flat for predrinks, head off to Klute at 10:45pm – free for Cuths on a Monday! Leave at 1:30am, wrestle past people more drunk than I am at Patricks for pizza and get back to my friend’s flat at 2:00am. Eat until 3:00am, and then I crash.

Tuesday: No extra Tort lecture this week, so mega lie in until lunch. Get back to my room at about 1:30pm, have a chat with my flat mates and then head off to an EU lecture at 2:15pm. Sort-of bored to death, and want to leave, but I enjoy the UK lectures which happen right after, so I stay. EU ends at 3:15pm and students doing Sociology and Law flood in just before UK starts. UK ends at 4:15pm, and I get back to my room at 4:30pm. Begin writing an essay that’s due in two weeks. Decide to skip out on dinner at college to write more up so I can go out without feeling guilty.

Friends call me over at 8:30pm, pre-drinks for an hour before heading to the bar. General chat and banter over cider/house spirits before heading to Studio for 50p Tuesdays!

Wednesday: Get up at 10:30, shower, breakfast, quick sprint to Individual and the State (11pm-12pm), scribble fast because the lecturer is speeding through. Wednesdays are off free for everyone, so meet up with friends in town for coffee and lunch and much-needed grocery shopping at Tescos after. Gym from 3pm-4pm. Shower, and finish off a little bit more of the essay I started yesterday. Meet my friends downstairs to head to dinner at Cuths together at 5:40pm. Quick dinner for me tonight as I have a society meeting at 6:30pm. Get back to my room after the meeting (7:30pm) and read a couple more articles for the tutorial tomorrow. Pre-drinks start at 8:45pm, but I get there at 9:30pm. At 11pm, head to Loveshack and have a blast.

Thursday: Wake up at 9am and immediately regret scheduling a Tort tutorial for 10am. Shower, breakfast and out my room by 9:30am. Get to the Law School, navigate my way around the maze that it is, and finally find the room just in time for 10am-11am. Try not to fall asleep during the tutorial. Nothing else to do the entire day, so after lunch I call up my friend and we decide to go bask in the sun on Palace Green.

Tempted to go out to Studio, but have already been out three times this week, and work needs to get done. Dinner at 6:00pm-7:00pm, head back to my room and finish off the essay. Sleep at around midnight/1:00am.

Friday: Get up at 12am, late start, and head to lunch at 12:30am. Spend most of the afternoon at the Law library doing prep work for a tutorial next week, with the exception of a Legal Skills lecture (2:15pm-3:15pm) which I debate upon going to, but end up being dragged anyway.

We decide to treat ourselves to a nice dinner, so head to Nando’s around 7pm. Cocktails at fabios at 9pm, which are amazing! Awkward moment when we spot some of the younger lecturers out as well. Head back to get ready to go to Hound. Hound closes at 3am, so I get to bed at 4am after a long heart-to-heart with a few friends.

Saturday: Get up at 11am, decide to gym from 12-1pm. Lunch isn’t provided today for me, so meet up with a friend and head to subway for a well-earned meal. Spend the day people-watching through the windows at Saddelers over tea and coffee. Head back to my flat for dinner, and have an amazing meal we made our selves. Decide on a Bailey Bar crawl, starting at Cuths at 8:30pm, and head to Academy for a long night after cheap drinks at Jimmy A’s.

Sunday: Depending on how I feel, I get up roughly around 12-1pm. Spend the rest of the day recuperating by sipping home-made lemonade by the river and relaxing with friends. In the evening, I head to the library to read and take out a few more books to skim through for next week.

And that’s it! As an arts student, you don’t get that many contact hours anyway – you do, however, spend an extraordinary amount of time reading. The number of tutorials you do in the week is entirely up to how you schedule them, but usually you do 4 tutorials per module per year.
