| With famous visiting professors, MediaCity:UK coming to Salford Quays, and a massive campus investment programme, the future for Salford – and its students - couldn’t be brighter.
Just one and a half miles from Manchester, Salford University offers all the benefits of one of the most exciting cities in Europe – along with cost-effective accommodation in cheaper, neighbouring Salford.
And the area is on the up, with the BBC moving up to MediaCity:UK at Salford Quays, and the University investing over £150m in the campus. It’s all part of a massive regeneration scheme for Salford.
It’s certainly attracting the big names. Last year Johnny Marr - ex-Smiths guitarist and member of Modest Mouse - became Visiting Professor of Music, and will be passing on his expertise to students on the Popular Music and Recording course.
| And Salford’s graduates haven’t done badly either. Comedian Peter Kay, painter LS Lowry, ASDA CEO Andy Bond, and international rugby player Ieuan Evans are just some of the University’s world-famous alumni.
Employability is where Salford’s major strength lies, with three quarters of all undergraduate programmes offering a work or study placement – and courses designed in consultation with employers, to ensure that graduates go on to get great careers.
