English AEA

From The Student Room

TSR Wiki > Study Help > Exams and Qualifications > AEA > English AEA

The English AEA is aimed at all English students, regardless of whether they are studying English Literature, English Language or English Language and Literature. The paper therefore offers a number of questions which students can choose from; this occasionally includes a piece of imaginative or creative writing.

The paper is three hours long and the first hour is recommended as reading time. The student is given a reading booklet with a number of texts based around a certain theme. They must then answer two questions. The first is compulsory and asks the student to choose approaches and look at some of the texts in these ways, explaining why these approaches were chosen. There is then a large choice for the second question.

The English AEA is only offered by OCR, and a specimen paper can be found on their website.
