Location

Girton village, on the outskirts of Cambridge. It is the furthest out of all the colleges, and is a long way from the centre and from the faculties. If you go to Girton you need to have a bike or allow 45 minutes or more to walk into town. In Girton village there are all the necessary shops such as mini supermarkets and services.

Accommodation

First years live in the main college site, two miles out of Cambridge. Rooms in college are bright, airy and generally quite spacious (though there are some smaller rooms). First year rooms are allocated by random ballot, and everyone pays the same rent, regardless of the size of their room. Those who get smaller first year rooms become the first to pick in subsequent years.

Second years choose between living in Wolfson Court (a small, modern annexe of about 80 students in West Cambridge) and living in a college house (a number of which lie along Girton Road), though a small number choose to remain in college (in particular, music students live in college for each of the three years). Wolfson Court has its own cafeteria.

Third years generally move back into college, though small numbers do choose to live in Wolfson court or in college houses.

A lovely big old building from the late C19th, and has fantastic grounds/gardens! It is a long way from the town centre (but of course has Girton village, so kind of has it's own little town out there -- it's not like you have to trek miles for a pint of milk...or a pint of anything. Being a way out, though, makes the community up there really cohesive -- it's got a great atmosphere
