Experiences

If you have applied to Lovells, we would like you to hear from you. Please use the following form to detail your experiences of application, to aid those interested in following a similar career path.

Position applied for:
Vacation scheme

Year of Application:
2009

Region:
London (Atlantic House)

Educational Background:
Law degree, University of Warwick

What were your experiences of the application process?
The application process consisted of an online application form and a cover letter. Successful candidates were invited to Atlantic House for an "assessment day" which entailed an interview with a partner and a member of the graduate recruitment team, a tour of the offices and an aptitude test. The process was relatively informal, the staff were very friendly and helpful and it was clear from the outset that Lovells' intention was not to intimidate their applicants. I managed to secure a position despite spilling prawns over my suit.

What is it like working for Lovells?
I'll get back to you on this one.

How has it compared to your expectations?
I was really surprised by the friendliness of the firm and the way in which there was a strong sense of cohesiveness. At some firm's it's very easy to feel initimidated but there was non sense of a "dog-eat-dog" culture at Lovells.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Hopefully as a corporate lawyer.

Finally, any advice you would give to potential applicants?
Do your research. Know the firm inside out, Lovells is truly unique in a lot of ways and if you can highlight these in interview it will not only show that you've done your research, but that you're keen and enthusiastic.
