What is Shell Industrial?

Shell is a global energy and petrochemical company that supplies oil and energy to businesses around the world, while ensuring environmentally and socially responsible ways, and Shell invests heavily in the development of alternative energy sources. With more than 102,000 employees in over 100 countries, Shell is a recognisable world brand. Here in the UK, Shell provides 25% of the country's oil and gas, and 16% of our petrol and diesel.

What roles are available at Shell Industrial?

Shell employs over 1000 graduates worldwide each year. Recruitment is not to a generic graduate scheme but recruits into jobs tailored to the skills of its graduates. Roles may either be commercial or technical. Commercial Roles:

Application process for Shell Industrial.

Application is through an online application system which includes a short questionnaire, basic competencies, selection of a discipline and submission of your CV/resumé. If you are successful you will be invited either to a telephone or face-to-face interview based on achievements and competencies.

Following on from this there may be a recruitment day which lasts around 8 hours and involves work scenarios. The recruitment day is focused around 3 key area:

  • Case Study
  • Group discussion & business scenarios
  • Technical interview or presentation

This will form the basis of decisions for a job offer. Alternatively an offer may be made for those participating in the Gourami Business Challenge or an internship.

Entry requirements and type of person suited for Shell Industrial.

Suitable candidates should have a strong academic record and a degree in a related discipline. In addition to determination, enthusiasm and good leadership skills. They should enjoy a challenge, and be accountable and responsible for all their actions.

Future prospects and training at Shell Industrial.

Training at Shell can involve, depending on the route you take, on the job learning, building up your knowledge as you get to know the role you perform, training for recognised job-relevant qualifications either at Shell or external organisations, personal development programmes and a buddy/mentor scheme. All routes will see graduates complete induction courses and the 'Shell life' initiative, developing leadership potential. The training is tailored to equip graduates with all the necessary skills and knowledge required for an upwards moving career with Shell.

Shell offers good additional benefits including pension schemes and healthcare coverage. Employees can also take part in a government approved sharesave scheme for tax breaks and there are flexible working hours.
