Help:Guide to adding your PS to the Library

TSR Wiki > About TSR > Editing Help > Guide to adding your PS to the Library

Here on TSR we have an extensive personal statement library for people applying to uni to read to get an idea of how to write a PS and what sort of things you should include in them. The library is referenced by UCAS' plagiarism checker and so it is not possible for someone to steal all or parts of your statement without being caught. Similarly, make sure you will not be needing it again before you submit it!

If you have gone through the application process and are now at uni you can add your own personal statement to the library for others to seek inspiration from. Personal Statements which are being used in the current application cycle should not be added. If you are looking for help with your statement, post it in the confidential Personal Statement Help forum, not in the wiki.

Adding Your Personal Statements

So, you want to add your personal statement to the library. However you add your PS there are some pieces of information which are needed to help other people when reading it:

  • the subject(s) it was used to apply for
  • the level (undergraduate/postgraduate/Masters/PhD etc.)
  • which unis it was used to apply to
  • which unis offers were received from and what conditions those offers had
  • which uni, if any, you ended up going to

You do not have to have your name associated with a PS and you may wish to anonymise any reference to names and places mentioned in your PS.

So you are ready to add your PS - there are two ways:

Get Help Adding Your PS

Simply post your personal statement in the PS Adding Thread along with all the information requested above. Someone will add it to the wiki for you as soon as possible.

Add Your PS Yourself

If you want to add the PS yourself use the box below:

New Personal Statement Sample
Type the Subject being applied for:

If the name is already in use, add a number. e.g. "Biology 2".

When naming the page, you should give the subject being applied for in the statement and name it in the form "Mathematics 1" where the number is the next available number. You should check this before submitting by looking at the appropriate subject in the Personal Statements by Subject.

Examples of names for Personal Statement articles include:

Please ensure that you keep the following text at the bottom of your wiki page: [[Category:Personal Statements to be catalogued]]. This will help us to make sure that it links to relevant parts of the site and is accessible from the different menus. Without it your statement is likely to get lost and won't be accessible from the library!

Important Note

Personal statements which are added to the wiki may be reviewed by one of our PS helpers. This is to help others understand what they need to do to write an effective personal statement. While the reviews will be polite some people may feel uncomfortable about this, so if you have any questions or problems please contact F1 fanatic.
