Expanding the House
At various times during the TSR HOC's short life, expansion has often been discussed.
Extra MPs
During the ninth parliament an amendement was put forward to the House to increase the number of members to 60 or 65. The House rejected the amendment. As of the start of the tenth parliament discussions for changing the number of Members with some in favour of an increase, and some in favour of a decrease.
Prior to this, the attitude of the House was for a decrease in the number of seats. However, due to the fact there are a lot of members wanting to be MPs, this idea has little support within the House.
House of Lords
At the very beginning of forming the Parliament a House of Lords was considered to go along side the elected House of Commons. Initially no role for such a House was figured out and essentially there was probably not enough activity to have one either, so the ideas was scrapped, leaving the House of Lords in the TSR Parliament to be an invisible group which did nothing but agree with what the House of Commons said.
In February 2007, Roger Kirk brought up the idea of a House of Lords again. He suggested the House could a place for selected people who are no longer MPs/Speaker could go. The reasons for having it were put forward as follows:
- As a way to acknowledge the contribution to the Parliament those people who no longer have a formal position made
- To make those who have an understanding of the Parliament and it's rules stand out to newbies (as they often don't take a large role anymore) from those who have never been in the Parliament before.
- To create a 'who's who' of some of the most influential or committed people in the Parliament.
The idea was discussed and opinion gauged by a vote and was indefinitely put on hold. It has since been brought up numerous times.
More recently the idea was raised again. However, due to many MPs being opposed to the various membership qualifications and a clause stating that any disrespectful treatment of a member of the House of Lords would result in a temporary ban until said member had apologised in the Commons bar, the idea was once again put on hold.
The idea was raised again, in April 2012 in the fifteenth session, and a Model House of Lords Establishment Committee was set up.
There is still talk of such a House to honour former and current members and this has a lot of support in the House of Commons, but with many believing that it shouldn't be able to debate legislation, this has resulted in accusations of a lack of purpose for a House of Lords.
MUN Representative
This occurred thanks to mutual agreement between the MUN and the HOC (it was helped by the fact that most MUN-ers are also HOC-ers. The first MUN-HOC representative was Veggie4life. Due to problems of activity in the MUN the representative was never fully tested, however with the second representative (Musty_Elbow) the idea is being tested again. The then prime minister, Matthew_Lowson, called a vote of no confidence in the second MUN representative, Musty_Elbow, citing reasons of a sustained absence from the role without appointing a proxy representative and failure to inform both the MUN and HoC of various matters, most notably, the International Development Spending Bill. The motion failed with 20 MPs voting against it. Musty_Elbow decided to vacate the role and elections began for a new MUN rep.
The Speaker, Metrobeans, proposed to change the voting procedure for electing MUN reps in this election. This, however, did not matter as the only candidate was DayneD89 who was elected with 81.25% of the vote. After a short period, and following DayneD89 temporarily leaving the site for personal reasons, it was decided to make the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs the MUN-HoC rep.

Member of the Term
The former Speaker of the House, Metrobeans, introduced the Member of the Term award to the House to recognise those members who have made a significant contribution to the House, hoping to boost activity in the process.

The Speaker is the presiding officer of the TSR House of Commons. He is responsible for the day-to-day running of the House and ensures that the constitution is adhered to.

The Speaker is supported by a Deputy Speaker, who takes on his responsibilities during periods of the Speaker's absence. The position of Deputy Speaker has previously been known as the Barman of the House, although that title is no longer in use.

The Political Parties
A large number of political parties and independents have taken part in the Parliament in varying degrees since its founding.
Labour Party
The Labour Party were one of the founding parties of the Model House of Commons (MHoC). In earlier eras, Labour tended to be a smaller party than it is today and faced strong opposition from the more popular Liberal Democrats and the Socialist Party. Nevertheless, it has always had at least seven seats in the parliament; and, with recent peaks of fifteen seats, it has leapfrogged its rivals to become the dominant party of the TSR Left.
They first featured in government as the coalition partner to the Monster Raving Loony Party during the Fifth Parliament, largely helped by the failure of the Conservatives to contest the election and the antipathy of the Monster Raving Loony Party towards the Liberal Democrats. These roles were reversed during the Sixth Parliament when Labour for the first time emerged as the largest party, and formed a Labour-Monster Raving Loony Party government, with Randdom becoming Labour's first Prime Minister. Now an accepted party of government, Labour became a coalition partner to the Liberal Democrats in the Seventh Parliament, but left office in the Eighth Parliament due to the rise of the Socialists, who for the first time became the largest leftwing party and by refusing to countenance a coalition allowed the Conservatives to form a minority government.
Labour remained the smallest leftwing party during the Ninth Parliament, but attempted to launch a coalition offer with the Liberal Democrats and Socialists which was rebuffed by the Conservatives during the constitutional crisis. During the Tenth Parliament, Labour managed to reassert itself as the secondary leftwing party after the Liberal Democrats, defeating the Socialists convincingly and retaining a narrow lead over them into the Eleventh Parliament. This put them in prime position to pick up the leftwing vote following the electoral collapse of the Liberal Democrats in Parliaments Twelve onwards.
In recent years, Labour have been much more successful, and arguably have been the most dominant party in the House since the Thirteenth Parliament, uniting much of the leftwing vote and placing as the largest party in five consecutive elections, an unmatched record. They have been the main party of government in every Parliament since the Thirteenth, with the exception of the Fifteenth and Seventeeth, both where poor activity forced them into opposition despite having a plurality of seats.
In the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Parliaments Labour's main coalition partner was the Liberal Democrats, but a leftwards shift in the Labour Party saw them form a coalition with the Independent Addzter and the Socialist Party for the Sixteenth Parliament. The leadership structure consists of a Leader, and Deputy Leader, as well as an unofficial Reserve Deputy Leader, and the roles are currently filled by Mechie (previously known as davidmarsh01), TopHat and RoryS respectively. The Labour Party is not currently either in Government or in Opposition..

Conservative and Unionist Party
The Conservatives are another founding party of the Model House of Commons. The Conservatives have recorded a huge variety of results, failing to contest the Fifth Parliament and thus winning no seats, but averaging approximately 11 seats per Parliament, with a peak of 19 seats in the Ninth Parliament, the highest achieved by any party to date. In the earlier era of the Model House of Commons, the Conservatives were the sole rightwing party and as a result were very successful in forming government against their key rivals at the time the Liberal Democrats, who had to fight for the leftwing vote with Labour and later the Socialists. During the Second Parliament, a small splinter group of Conservatives abandoned the party and formed the Libertarian Party. A series of defections saw the Conservative Party disbanded during the Fourth Parliament as they did not have enough activity, and they returned no seats at the Fifth Parliament General Election.
Reformed under new leadership, they contested the Sixth Parliament General Election and had returned to full strength by the Eighth Parliament, forming a minority government. During the Ninth Parliament, they returned 19 seats, an all time record for any one party. Unfortunately, their coalition offer to the Speaker with the Libertarians had the same amount of seats, but less votes, than the Liberal Democrat-Socialist-Labour coalition offer. The Conservatives caused a constitutional crisis by refusing to accept the legitimacy of the Liberal Democrat-Socialist-Labour coalition offer on the grounds the constitution didn't specify whether a three party coalition was acceptable or not. The result was a null government for that term. Unfortunately for the Conservatives, the size of the party lead to a schism and another splinter group left the party, forming the Patriotic Conservative Party. The Conservatives went on to lose 9 seats at the Tenth Parliament General Election, but entered government as a coalition partner in a Liberal Democrat-Conservative-Centre Party government.
In the Eleventh Parliament, the Conservatives managed to reconcile the differences between themselves, the Patriotic Conservatives (now called TSR UKIP), and the Libertarians, allowing them to form a coalition government. This successful partnership continued into the Twelfth Parliament, although TSR UKIP was not present for the second term. The thirteenth Parliament marked the end of Conservative dominance within the House and Labour served as leading partners in the next 2 governments including a rainbow coalition which included UKIP. The Conservatives in the 14th parliament underwent a period of internal restructuring with the replacement of 2 leaders however after winning a by-election they then launched a vote of no confidence against the incumbent Labour party who had seen its coalition with the Liberal Democrats collapse due to inactivity, Labour avoided the resulting vote of no confidence which had cross party support and called a general election. Despite being the largest party following the general election the Labour Party found no support for their continued governance and this allowed the Conservatives to form a minority coalition with TSR UKIP and the Independent JPKC. The latter however was forced to resign after the Ad Hoc scandal, and this government would turn out to be the most active government in MHoC history. In the Sixteenth Parliament, they won 7 seats, the worst for any contested election and formed the Official Opposition however following the next general election they returned to government in the 17th parliament as part of a union of the right, a Conservative-UKIP-Libertarian coalition which remains in power to this day.

TSR Socialist Party
The Socialist Party formed towards the end of the Third Parliament in order to promote socialist ideals within the Model House of Commons. They are historically the most successful party outside of the "Big Three" (Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat), and have averaged approximately 6 seats an election since their foundation, never passing below 4 seats and with a peak of 11 in the Eighth Parliament. Immediately after forming, they were strongly successful by third party standards. Having been created just as the original Green Party and Respect Party had disbanded, they picked up this now uncontested niche of the political market, and then took some support from Labour.
There was a great change in fortune following the shift by Labour towards the centre in the Eighth Parliament. The result was that instead of Labour and the Socialists dividing the left-wing vote and the Liberal Democrats having the unchallenged pick of the centre-left vote, Labour and the Liberal Democrats divided the centre-left vote and the Socialists took the left-wing vote essentially unchallenged. The Socialists picked up 11 seats, an all-time high for their party, and formed Her Majesty's Most Loyal Opposition - for the first and so far only time - against a minority Conservative government. This title was somewhat ironic given the Socialist policy of disestablishment of the monarchy.
For the Ninth Parliament's General Election, Labour moved leftwards to reclaim their lost vote. Whilst the Socialists defeated Labour by a narrow margin, it was the Liberal Democrats who became the largest centre-left party. In the same Parliament, the Conservatives picked up 19 seats having benefitted from from the popularity of the real-life Conservative Party and the fact that the right was divided to a lesser extent than the left. Seeking to oppose this, the Liberal Democrats proposed a Liberal Democrat-Socialist-Labour coalition. This triggered the constitutional crisis that left the Ninth Parliament without government, as the Conservatives disputed the legitimacy of a three party coalition offer.
Following the Ninth Parliament, the Socialist Party began to lose seats and saw defections to the Labour Party. By the Twelfth Parliament, the Socialists had recorded an all-time low of 4 seats. The Socialists began to recover, however, recording a gradual increase in seats through Parliaments Thirteen to Fifteen, and after JPKC began to caucus with them in the Fifteenth Parliament they reached 8 seats, their second-highest. This ascendancy was briefly halted when, in the Sixteenth Parliament, the Green Party re-formed, further dividing the furthest left end of the electorate. When the Socialists extended a coalition offer to the Labour Party at the start of the Sixteenth Parliament, the Labour Party, having moved leftwards in the previous term, accepted, and together they formed a Labour-Addzter-Socialist coalition.

TSR Libertarian Party
The Libertarian Party of TSR was founded in 2006 to promote Libertarianism, which is based on the principle that each and every adult is the sole and sovereign owner of their life and legitimately acquired property and so therefore people should have the freedom to live in whatever manner they desire, so long as they do not infringe upon the freedom of others to do the same.
Libertarians believe that being free and independent is a great way to live. We want a system which encourages all people to choose what they want from life; that lets them live, love, work, play, and dream their own way. We believe each individual is unique. We want a system which respects the individual and encourages us to discover the best within ourselves and develop our full potential. The Libertarian way is a logically consistent approach to politics based on the moral principle of self-ownership. Each individual has the right to control his or her own body, action, speech, and property. Government's only role is to help individuals defend themselves from force and fraud.The Libertarian Party is for all who don't want to push other people around and don't want to be pushed around themselves. Live and let live is the Libertarian way.

TSR Liberal Party
The TSR Liberal Party stands for social progression, protecting individual liberty and promoting fiscal responsibility.
The party has existed since the creation of TSR’s HOC, and it has a proud record of passing popular and progressive legislation. The current leader is Birchington.
The party has often been the largest party in the HOC, and was the first party in government following the formation of the HOC in May 2005. The party received the most votes and seats in the second, seventh, tenth and eleventh general elections, and were the largest government party in the fifth, seventh and tenth Parliaments. The party has also served as a junior coalition partner in the thirteenth and fourteenth Parliaments.
In March 2013, the TSR Liberal Party changed it's name from the TSR Liberal Democrats, and continues to serve as an active voice in the House of Commons.

TSR UKIP
TSR UKIP had participated in the first TSR General Election but disbanded soon after due to inactivity. However, TSR UKIP was re-established in 2010 as a result of a party consultation on a change of name by the TSR Patriotic Conservative Party founded in 2009. Despite being comfortably the smallest party in terms of both MPs and members, TSR UKIP in recent times has been one of the most active parties with one of the highest outputs of legislation.
Policies
TSR UKIP seeks to uphold, promote and champion actions that are in the best interests of the British public, with an emphasis on withdrawal from the EU. Those who follow us on TSR will notice we are, at times, a stark abdication from real life TSR UKIP and some take issue with this – we however take pride in knowing that what is paramount for us is not our image, but our policies. We believe that ideologies are fine as policy catalysts but unless these ideals are shaped by pragmatism they are worth very little – as such, we concern ourselves more with reaching consensus on whatever issues may arise and responding as appropriate; very few of us are implacably opposed to many things – and this sets us apart from other parties. As does our membership; our members are drawn from across the political spectrum.
TSR UKIP, despite our reputation as xenophobic ignorant purveyors of idiocy we inherited from the party's previous incarnations and regimes, is now very much a home for anyone with a genuine interest in politics, a willingness to participate, and the faculty to compromise within the context of wide ranging and often polarised views.

Legislation
- Precipitated a referendum on continued membership of the EU, which was the first ever referendum on TSR.
- Attempted to reform EMA, ensuring only those that needed it got it.
- Attempted to revoke diplomatic immunity in cases of offences against the person
- Moved to redistribute international aid and set a minimum amount to be given each year, ensuring not only that we continue to help those that need it but that that help is used where it can be more effective.
- Prior to the referendum bill TSR UKIP attempted to dilute the power of the EU by altering the importance of it's laws.

The TSR Green Party was originally founded for the 2005 election and contested the elections for the first three TSR Parliaments, steadily winning at least 5% of the vote and coming 5th behind the Lib Dems, Labour, Conservatives and the Loonies on all occasions. Following this, the party became inactive and was deleted. Despite several attempts to reform the party since its deletion in Parliament III, it was not until the party was proposed again at the end of Parliament XV that the TSR Green Party was given permission to reform by the Speaker. The Green Party were then able to contest the election for parliament XVI, in which they won 5 seats.
Following the election the Green Party became active and accepted in the House very quickly. They contested By-Election III jointly with the Liberal Democrats and came in third. Continuing to grow, The Greens' greatest electoral success came in the election to Parliament XVII when they won 7 seats and became the third largest party behind Labour and the Conservatives. Following this election the Green Party formed a coalition with the Socialists and became a member of the first, and so far only, coalition to form HM Loyal Opposition in the TSR Parliament.

B518 - Alcohol Harm Prevention Act 2012 - An Act to allow public houses to sell alcohol under 7.5% volume to 16 year olds and reform alcohol taxation to taxation by units rather than weight with an aim to promote a more responsible drinking culture and boost the pub industry.

TSR BNP
The BNP ran in the first few TSR Elections. However, over time many of their members were banned from TSR for serious rule breaking and their activity dropped. The party was eventually deleted due to inactivity. Although there have been attempts since then to reform the BNP, these have not only struggled to achieve the required numbers but also been met with opposition by many other MHoC members, making such an event unlikely.

TSR Scottish Nationalist Party
The TSR Scottish Nationalist Party ran in the First Election for TSR Parliament, but failed to win any seats. They slowly became inactive and therefore got deleted.
TSR Centre Party
Founded in mid 2009 by Drogue and others including independent MP Kolya in the hope of bridging the chasm between the left and the right, the Centre Party went on to produce some of the most successful bills in the term winning over both political dimensions. At their first election in November 2009, they managed to win 4 MP seats in Parliament, missing out on 5 by a single vote. Subsequent elections have resulted in the party winning around 4/5 MPs. Drogue resigned as leader in mid 2010 and Smack replaced him. In mid 2011, Smack resigned, and was replaced by cab12 and jsb123 in joint leadership.,
After the April 2011 election, the Centre Party entered into a coalition with Labour, TSR UKIP and the Lib Dems. After leaving government following the Autumn 2011 election, the party became inactive and was deleted.

Carl surfaced during the first Parliament and successfully ran as an Independent in the second, third, fourth and fifth elections. He did not come forward to run in the sixth General Election.
Daniel_Williams
Daniel_Williams ran as an independent MP between his tenures as Speaker for the House of Commons, though this seat wasn't held for long due to his appointment as Deputy Speaker when Alasdair's activity ended due to personal issues. He was subsequently re-elected as Speaker in August 2008.
Kolya
Kolya ran as an independent in the 9th TSR General election, winning a seat. Kolya was also a member of the TSR Centre Party, prior to it's closure.
01kij114
01kij114 ran as an independent in the 9th and 10th TSR General Election, winning a seat in both.
William1986
William1986 ran in the second TSR election. He failed to achieve the required 2% of the votes to win a seat.
Birchington
Birchington had 2 unsuccessful attempts at being elected as an independent MP. His first attempt was in the 7th General Election, and the second was in the 8th, where he missed out on a seat by two votes. On both occasions, he failed to reach 2% of the vote. He is currently Leader of the TSR Liberal Party.
Matthew_Lowson
Matthew_Lowson was a independent, having been Deputy Leader of the Tories before being voted out and eventually leaving the party. He ran for the first time as an Independent in the 10th TSR General Election, in which he failed to gain a seat, before joining the TSR Liberal Democrats and gaining a seat there. Subsequently he was elected Leader shortly into the 11th Parliament, and thus with the Liberal Democrats as the senior government party, Prime Minister. After resigning as prime minister in the wake of a coalition collapse in August 2010 he resigned as Liberal Democrat leader and subsequently rejoined TSR UKIP. Following April 2012's election he was elected as MP for TSR UKIP and is presently Secretary of State for Constitutional Reform.
Jangrafess
Ex-TSR Labour Party leader Jangrafess ran for an independent seat in the 11th TSR General Election. He won it and got enough votes to make him the 5th largest party - if he was one. Jangrafess did not run for re-election in the 12th TSR General Election.
RobbieC
Ex-TSR Liberal Democrat deputy leader RobbieC ran for an independent seat in the 11th TSR General Election. He gained that seat, but he did not return in the 12th TSR General Election.
TheCrackInTime
Deputy Speaker TheCrackInTime ran as an independent in the 14th TSR General Election. He received 39 votes (8.16% - just over 4 times more than the required 2%) and was duly elected. He decided not to run for a second term in the following general election and is now an MP for the TSR Libertarian Party.
Barnetlad
Barnetlad ran in the Fifteenth TSR General Election, gaining 4.1% of the vote and a seat in the House. He is currently attempting to recreate the Monster Raving Loony Party.
JPKC
After standing for TSR Labour in the March 2012 By-Election, JPKC left Labour to run as an independent in the April General Election, gaining 2.4% of the vote and a seat in the House. He joined the Tory-TSR UKIP Coalition before being forced out in a press-related scandal, later joining the TSR Socialist Party in May, raising their MP count to 8. He was banned from the House (and the Socialist Party) after it was discovered that he held a dupe account in the Liberal Democrat Party under the alias of Ysolt, temporarily holding two MP seats. However, he was re-instated at the end of that term, going on to re-gain his MP seat and become C1 of the Socialist Party, leading them into a highly successful coalition Government with Labour and the first ever opposition coalition with the Greens.
Addzter
Addzter contested the fourteenth TSR General Election as an independent and he was elected with the second highest number of votes.

Until the eighth general election in 2008, NDGAARONDI and Acaila remained the only members from the first parliament in May 2005. Following the departure of NDGAARONDI, Acaila became the first Father of the House as the remaining longest serving MP.

Controversies
The House of Commons is no stranger to scandal. Some of the past controversies and hot topics include:
- The attempted creation of the 'Liberal Al-Quaida' party and the subsequent Vote of No Confidence in the Speaker, which failed.
- The 'Ask a Tory' thread, created by the leader of the Socialist Party after the Conservative Party refused to start one of their own. The thread was subsequently closed.
- The Vote of No Confidence in Alasdair's speakership, which failed. Issues raised were the conduct of the election, allegations of bias and lack of activity.
- In late 2008, a Conservative member was found by the Conservatives to have created a dupe to spy on the Socialist Party. It was subsequently discovered that dupes from his IP address had been members of the Liberal Democrat and Labour parties as well. He was ejected from the Conservative Party and attempted to start a TSR UKIP shortly afterwards (following these failed creations, he apparently changed his ways and tried to settle down with the Liberal Democrats, though left for differences in economic policy). In the Autumn of 2009, the TSR Conservative Party then reaccepted him as a member (albeit under a different name) and subsequently made him an MP.
- In November of 2008, the mods stickied an announcement in the forum, bemoaning the general rancour of the House in recent months, and warning that if it didn't calm down, action would be taken. This situation has yet to truly come to a head.
- In October of 2009, Matthew_Lowson posted this thread to the HOC forum following his resignation as a member of the Conservative Party. It received a mixed response with some support and some opposition to what the Conservative leader Bagration deemed to be a private matter - with it being called Lowson gate by a number of members.
- In April of 2012, an MHoC newspaper, the Ad HoC, published its first edition. A controversy arose when it was discovered that several segments of an interview with the Leader of the Opposition had been fabricated in jest. Allegations swirled and the Deputy Editor was sacked from the Labour Party, accused of being a dupe account. An inquest by the Speaker found that the article had actually been tampered with by independent MP, JPKC. The latter subsequently resigned and was dropped from the governing Tory-TSR UKIP Coalition.
- In August 2012, JPKC - whilst serving as a Socialist MP - was exposed as maintaining a duplicate account with membership in the Liberal Democrat Party. Though it is not thought that the account was used to share information, it was used to influence the Liberal Democrats internally and held an MP seat as a proxy for a week during July 2012. This resulted in a by-election and JPKC being effectively banned from the MHoC for the rest of the term. The Socialists won back the seat.
- In late September / early October 2012, Following the appointment of Mazzini as the third Liberal Democrat MP, former leader and former MP Morgsie immediately resigned his membership of the party and leveled allegations of bullying against his former party. These allegations remain unsubstantiated but following the decision by Thunder_Chunky to resign as leader and therefore vacating an MP position, Morgsie immediately announced his decision to return to the Liberal Democrats. It is presently unknown whether he intends to contest the now vacant positions.
