• Need help and advice to get onto a PGCE

I would really appreciate it if anyone could give me any advice or knowledge they have to help me secure a place onto a PGCE for English.

I am 21 years old and I am currently taking a year out after my 3 year degree. I finished my degree with a 2:2 which I know I could have done better on, if the circumstances had been different. I know that it is in my capabilities to produce work of a high 2:1 standard.

I am currently working part-time in a shop as a sales assistant to get by whilst I volunteer at a secondary school, a youth club and in the summer I will be travelling to Spain to live with a family and teach their children English.

I've already been rejected by one University because my 'low grade' is sufficient enough. That one rejection knocked me back enough, when I know I am capable of much better. Does anyone know of any teacher or students that have managed to secure a place on a course? Or anything I can do to try and make myself stand out even more.

Thank you.
