  • Gaudy Night -1987 TV adaptation of Dorothy L Sayers murder mystery set in Shrewsbury College based on Somerville which Sayers attended
  • Heavens Gate -1980 Western with Oxford locations standing in for Harvard
  • Another Country- 1984 film starring Rupert Everett, about Guy Burgess at Eton. Features Bodleian, Brasenose, and Brasenose Lane.
  • "Young Sherlock Holmes" - 1985 film produced by Steven Speilberg and written by Chris Columbus (who later directed three of the Harry Potter films). The outside of the entrance to Brasenose College was used.
  • "Shadowlands" - 1985 TV play starring Joss Ackland and 1993 film starring Anthony Hopkins, records the life of C. S. Lewis
  • Harry Potter - The Harry Potter series features a variety of different buildings from across the university, including Christ Church, Brasenose and Divinity Schools.
