Architecture Personal StatementDear Sir/Madam, Trough 18 years of living, learning and trying to reach the best results in everything I do I came up to the features that describe me best. Versatility, creativity and diligence. These not only let me achieve many of my objectives, but also showed me the way to architecture. My interest in art and culture developed from a very young age and has since been a long- standing passion of mine. Firstly I attended local artists' Vytautas Kusas study of art. Then being 10 years old I became a student of Palanga Stasys Vainiūnas School of Art and after four years of learning academical drawing, sculpture, painting, composition and history of art I did a dissertation defense and finished it with the best results. While making two large paintings on silk for my thesis I fell in love with silk technique so I started making more paintings, kerchiefs and ties and had a small exhibition. What is more, all these activities drew me into the marathon of competitions and Olympiads. I attended in the National Drawing Competition 'Smiling childhood', International Art Project 'Nature's Fairytale', International Childrens' Drawing Competition 'Baltic Fantasy', Competition in the name of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis and Antanas Mončys and took the wining places in the Lithuanian Olympiads of Arts, Technologies and Ancient Culture. The perception, knowledge and skills which I gained through all these years influenced me to look for new interests in life. That is how I found Architecture. I have decided to become an architect then being fifteen years old. I was always fascinated about incredible buildings through out the epochs especially Renaissance and baroque but these did not inspired me as much as the modern architecture with one of the greatest American architect of all time- Frank Lloyd Wright. By generating beautiful spaces, building from within outward and connecting architecture with the landscape he built many masterpieces and up to now the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Fallingwater buildings are my favorite ones. Another important architect for me is Zara Hadid. By being the first woman to win a Pritzker Architecture Prize she not only denied the fact that woman are not meant for architecture but also made me realize why I am suitable to become an architect. Firstly, it is because I was always interested in arts and I was sure that my future will be related to it. What is more, I was trying to do my best in all life spheres including school where I kept getting the highest marks and used to be a class head for five years. I managed to cope with all this easily because I enjoyed learning and I never counted time while doing homework. I was a frequent participant in Mathematics and Physics Olympiads, Mathematics ('Kangaroo', 'Eruditus') and English ('Around the world', 'Amber Star', 'Your look', 'Language Kangaroo') competitions and I was a member of the Young Physics School 'The Photon' for two years. Being an active person I found sports as another passion of life. Yoga, swimming, aerobics and four years of training Track and Field Athletics gave me more than just physical health. By competing in athletics contests or going to national competitions like 'Brave, strong and agile' I learned concentration, patience, responsibility, communication and working with a team. Furthermore, after architecture have already became my objective I prepared for it by learning academical drawing at the artists' Rytas Jurgelis for two years. And currently I am improving my skills in Klaipėda University School of Architecture. I do strongly believe that by falling in love with architecture I found my dream profession so I take the words of Joseph Campbell as my motto: 'Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls.' I hope that the combination of my strong wish, determination and experience will enable me to excel at architecture at your University, where I will be able to become a qualified architect. Yours faithfully, Gabrielė Adinavičiūtė Universities Applied to:
