Business and Management Personal Statement

I have chosen to apply to study for a Business Management degree because I find the subject very interesting. I first started studying Business at GCSE and now at A-level I am finding it even more stimulating and I realise that it is a subject that I want to carry on studying and increasing my knowledge of

I have chosen to study Business Management rather than Business Studies as I feel it 3will help me develop my leadership and organisational skills to a greater level. I think the course will challenge me but will also give me great satisfaction as it is about a subject I really enjoy to do. I also understand that as the de3gree covers a wide range of issues and skills that it will in turn lead to a vast number of careers, which is good as I am yet unsure in which area I want to specialise

I have grown up around business as my parents own their own company and I have spent many days working in the office environment doing jobs for them. My knowledge of their company has in turn helped me to gain interest in business and has spurred me on to wanting to know and understand more

My other main interest is Information Technology, which I find is a subject that fits in well with my Business interest. I have also found that through studying this subject I have gained computer skills and knowledge that are very valuable in today's business world

My career aim is to finally own and run my own business. I do understand that for that goal to be successful I need the experience and knowledge to make it work. I am hoping that through the degree I will be able to gain this

During my time at college I have taken part in an 'Understanding Industry' course which I found very interesting and gave me an understanding into other aspects of business. I have also taken part in various trips to local companies which I found very informative

Last year I took part in a French Exchange trip to Bourges where I carried out work experience for three days in a clothes shop, this experience developed both my personal and communication skills greatly. Throughout both college and high school my attendance and punctuality have been very good. Also during my time at high school I was both a prefect and a member of the School Hockey Team

During my spare time I enjoy doing many things including swimming, reading and going out and meeting new people, I also have a part-time job at a major retail store in St. Helens. I find that my job as a sales assistant has given me great skills in communicating and dealing with people. It has increased my confidence and has given me invaluable experience. Although the work can sometimes be challenging I do enjoy it because I gain a lot from it

I am reliable, organised, motivated student who enjoys experiencing new situations and I am looking forward to the experience and challenge of university life
