Business and Management Personal Statement

I have always been ambitious and am looking at university with a view to gaining credentials with which I can begin a successful career. I left university last year due to some untoward family problems that have now been resolved. Having had the initial experience of university, I now have a better idea of the type of course that will provide me with the specific credentials, understanding and experience I aspire to take into my prospective career in marketing.

Part-time work will be an essential element of my routine at university. I am practically-minded and have worked voluntarily for Oxfam, also as a retail assistant at Primark and a barmaid at the Tap N’ Tin, a large-capacity entertainment venue. I enjoy new challenges and will be seeking to further my work experience while at university – if possible, working for the university itself – most probably in retail or bar work.

I am also an aspiring model and will be looking to further my career in that field while at university; I do both paid work and pro bono promotional shoots; I modelled for promotional pictures for Tap N’ Tin while working there. My official website is currently under construction and once it is complete I will look to further my modelling career, particularly if I am based in London or the greater London area, as is my first choice.

In addition, I will be eager to participate in any work placement schemes over the summer to further my experience in the field of marketing, which remains my primary interest. I look forward to project assignments; I can work well in a like-minded team and have good organisational skills and ideas. If there are any groups or societies within the university that may further my career credentials in marketing I will also be looking to join them and play an active part in the events, meeting like-minded people and making as many connections as possible.

I speak extremely fluent English and Russian and am hopeful that this will increase my employment prospects; I have acquired a GCSE in Russian and am planning to gain further qualifications in it, potentially while at university. I have always excelled in academic studies, but have further potential and I am confident I will thrive when studying a subject I have genuine passion and ambition for. Having studied business, marketing is the area that interests me more than any other, particularly the challenge of attracting different demographics and putting my ideas in the public eye. I am interested in traditional forms of marketing as well as the fast-growing world of eCommerce and online marketing and how the two combine.

I look forward to starting my university life again and being active in as many facets as possible to boost my employment credentials and gain valuable experience. I will be eager to progress in terms of my academic study, my modelling and my work experience. I look forward to integrating into my new surroundings and being involved in social activities organised by the university. I am confident that my time at university will be a success both academically and personally and that I can leave with a range of great career prospects and a bright future ahead of me.
