“I… I will provide the people of this city with a daily newspaper that will tell all the news honestly.” - Paul E. Schindler, Jr.

Cultures, opinions, stories and exclusivity all are needed to write the perfect story; the perfect piece of writing which manages to grab the audience, engaging them in the scoop. The existence of different cultures has had a lasting effect on the world of journalism, while engaging some of the popular stories of the 21st century it has also brought to light some of the negative qualities of the world. The ability to reverse the negative qualities of many stories has become a test to competing journalists. It has interested me to find how many pieces of excellent constructive writing have been created in relation to negative press. The power of words can influence the great; this has prompted me to develop my writing skills in order to ascend in the cosmos of journalism. This is one of the reasons why I want to start journalism, the ability to bring my ideas and thoughts to the public eye has been my point of focus.

With the development of my A levels I have learned that I am drawn towards the need to write structural essays with vast personal opinion. The development of this personal opinion is always needed to write so diversely, especially when discussing a wide range of ideas. Creative writing has always been a passion; throughout my school career I have always had the need to express clear, imaginative thoughts. The direction of my coursework in novels such as Hard Times has enabled my style to move to new levels, applying knowledge and various quotes from the text in order to push my opinion has enabled in the cohesion of my ideas. I have chosen 3 A levels in which to develop the writing skills necessary to rise to the path of an excellent journalist. I have always found English literature challenging, which requires high critical analysis of the language in a number of texts however it has always been interesting to read and write so many essays, each referencing the issues that correspond to other themes and ideas. My main focuses at the moment are English, Geography and Spanish as these draw attention to the main themes of what I want to achieve with the perfection of my writing.

Over the past few years I have taken keen interest in current affairs which has pushed my desire for work experience. I have often expressed deep concerns over the technology industry; writing blogs which has intrigued the masses into engaging their opinions. Keeping in touch with the news broadcasts from the UK has developed a sense of solidarity, especially from my home in Spain. Living in Spain has encouraged me to realise how Britain’s foreign affairs greatly effect the rest of the world, the need to report on these developments is as important as embracing them. My keen interest and continuation of learning in the Spanish language has resulted in viewing ideas and troubles on both sides of the table. The conflicts of Gibraltar between the UK and Spain; with the aid of Spanish has fuelled my desire to bring stories such as these to the masses; that is the kind of power I want to be connected to, the power of the media
