Information Communication and Technology Personal Statement

As an AVCE student I know that my long-term ambition is to work within the fields of Information Technology and become a qualified Computer Technician. With my future goals in mind, my sixth form education has been based upon VCE's in Advanced Information Technology and Business Studies, Cisco Networking and General Studies. Studying for these VCE's means I have to be an efficient and hard worker, showing that I am able to prioritise and manage my time efficiently to get everything done on time. I enjoy and take pride in my work particularly I.T and find learning and applying the logical methods taught very stimulating

I have done a lot of research into the different areas of the computing industry and have also written to Microsoft. My research has shown me that Information Technology is a demanding and a rewarding career and I feel that this is the type of employment that I would like to go for

My advanced VCE in Information Technology has helped me develop many skills. The most important of all is the ability to keep to deadlines as we have many assignments given to us at one time from each teacher

I have found out that this is achieved by carefully planning my time

From my advanced VCE's I have also developed on the ability to produce accurate information that is clear to understand. This fact is shown in the programming assignment where I designed my own programme using Visual Basic. My strongest point is the ability to co-operate with others and share information obtained. I have also excellent communication skills and can talk and deal with problems in a friendly manner. I have developed on this particularly skill whilst I spent three weeks at Cape Computers where I learnt how to make computers carrying out different tasks and learning new skills every day. I also got the opportunity to build my own PC, which was a challenging task and a lot of problem solving skills were involved. I got the opportunity to communicate with people and solve their computer problems

On top of my VCE I also work for MacDonald's Restaurant Ltd. This has brought me into contact with a wider range of people, and I have learnt a lot of skills, both in the work place and socially with my colleagues

Out of school I am involved in the Muslim community and I hold quite a prestigious position, teaching younger children the ways of the Qura'n and I am called upon quite often to lead the reciting in the mosque

In my leisure time I enjoy taking part in the fitness program for my personal fitness. My other hobbies and interests include swimming and cycling and to totally relax I listen to music

In my last year at school I am determined to work hard to gain the necessary grades for a place at university. I have the full backing of the school and my family to do this. My interest in my chosen computing subjects helps me to focus towards my ambition, as they happen to be subjects that I really enjoy greatly. I trust I shall be favourably looked upon for a university place.
