ICT Personal StatementMy career though excited as I am about it, I have always know what I wanted to do since I was in high school that I choose to do a BTEC diploma in ICT instead of A-Level, but the rate of technological change is so fast that extrapolation simply cannot be useful guide, with new products and services appearing all the time. Sometimes I wonder if what am learning now will be of use in about 10 years time, but I guess what matters is to get the basics of the networking, because I believe in the saying that no matter how the devices or applications have been changed the prototype is always the same, because it’s the backbone, then rest don’t matter, you will just have to top up the knowledge you have gain with the future innovation in your chosen IT field, in my case networking management (infrastructure) by doing the top up exams. I guess one of the disadvantages of my field is that most of the professional qualification certificate that you have gained, you have to re sit for that exams every 3 to 4 years to valid your certificate, this means learning, studying and doing exams never end unlike some careers like accounting or medicines. And you need to stay in touch with the current technologies. Nevertheless I really like what I do and I can’t see myself working in other careers other than IT networking, and to say the truth we IT are the future and the future will not exist without us, nobody can tell me where in which industry we are not needed, Information technology is a highly important aspect today. Having the ability to transfer data, store data and keep it safe is crucial in many ways. Without information technology many medical facilities and corporations would find it difficult to keep information stored securely. Computers allow users to communicate with many people at once or in far away places. It stands to reason that will the development of better technology yearly, computers will play a vital role in the ongoing support of information technology in the future. Computers allow users now to do many things such as writing much faster than a traditional typewriter or pen and paper would do. They also make it very possible to keep track of people, conduct business globally much easier than before and organize and store multiple files. They also make education possible from remote locations and provide communication that far outreaches what a traditional telephone could ever do. Of course the human brain is far more advanced than a typical home computer. And our job as IT networking guys is to make all these communication to happen, and as fast and secure as possible. Every little bits that you do on a day today basis, from toping up your mobile phone, paying bills, uploading your assignment on xtream or moodle, chatting of social networking sites, exchange market or banking, IT people are doing there job there to make those tasks possible Without trying to sound like we are most important than everybody else in the industry, let me tell you that I really appreciate other peoples work, like those who work tirelessly to save peoples lives, doctors, nurses and paramedics, they really do a tremendous job, and teachers who help to shape children into responsible, well mannered educated people and helped them realise there potential , because lets face it we all at a certain point in our childhood at school, when a certain teacher was a major influence to us and maybe helps us to became what we are today, these people their careers though they don’t get much appreciation than they deserve but they really do an important job. While my job is to help everyone’s else doing their job to do it with ease and faster using the technologies that are in place, and without us every ones work will be much more difficult that it already is, think of a doctor trying to find out what’s wrong with a patient who have been transferred to a new hospital and he is unable to access the database for the patient information because the database is unavailable or the hospital is offline, these are a matter of life and death for the patient, that’s why we need IT people to make these services available for these important guys to do their job.
