Personal Statement - International Business 3

International Business Personal Statement 3

I would like to study in the UK for various reasons. First of all, the English-speaking environment helps me to improve my English level in all aspects especially speaking and listening, which is critical to a future career in international business. Moreover, London is a major financial centre and studying here will allow me to witness how the global market functions, while studying the principles behind it. London’s cosmopolitan population will allow me to experience different cultures and gain a cultural awareness that will help my career ambitions of working in an international company.

I am currently studying the Diploma in Business and Management at EF University Preparation in London. After studying for 11 months, I hope to have gained a foundation of knowledge related to business and management, which will prepare me for joining a Business and Management degree in Year 2. Among the modules I have studied so far, I am particularly interested in Critical Thinking because through arguments and discussions with my classmates and teachers trains me to think and react more quickly to problems, and find solutions to them.

I would like to study International Business and Management, eventually specialising in marketing and management because eventually i hope to work in the marketing department for my father’s company, so having an in-depth understanding of this area of business will be essential. The structure of this program will give me a broad understanding of the principles of business management in an international context and will set me up to start an international business career. I hope to learn how to promote a company, advertise products internationally, as well as cooperating with and managing employees from different cultures, something I believe is imperative for successful business development.

I have been travelling overseas alone since I was a teenager, either to learn languages or to travel. My experiences have made me a very independent and adaptable person who has the courage to face challenges in new environments. I enjoy learning about different cultures, which is why I am sure that studying a degree in the UK is the right decision, and I am looking forward to the challenge. In my free time I try to give back to the community and have been involved in various voluntary projects, including fundraising for a homeless animal charity and caring for the elderly. I also have great interest in artistic activities. I have learned piano for over 10 years, ballet for approximately 5 years and oil painting for 2 years. These activities have taught me discipline and patience, but also help me to relax.

After I graduate I would like to enter an international company to learn how the real market works, and to gain practical work experience. Eventually I would like to join my father’s watch manufacturing company. He produces watches for some international brands, mainly in Turkey and the Middle East like Saudi Arabia. However, I aim at making use of the techniques I will learn at school and companies to start our own brand. To do so, marketing and advertising are vital, therefore, I wish to focus on international business at University and hopefully I could promote our products globally and efficiently.
