Law Personal Statement

I am presently secretary of the sixth form social committee which arranges social events and also attempts to improve sixth-form facilities. I have also held the position of house captain and prefect and also been involved with various sports teams and subject related clubs

After abandoning my childhood dream of becoming an astronaut, I became drawn towards the legal profession. Subsequently my work experience in the fifth year (1994-1995) was at one of Sheffield's largest firm of solicitors. During the two weeks I was there, I spent a brief time in the commercial, matrimonial and police prosecutions departments

Although all these aspects of law interested me, my experience confirmed that criminal law was stimulating personally and the area which I hope to pursue a career in, ultimately in the capacity of a barrister

Outside of school I am a member of a large sub-aqua branch helping in most aspects of the club, especially the maintenance and administration of equipment and the training (theoretical and practical) of other members. I am a keen cyclist and tennis player and my other interests lie in the modern cinema and horology. I also enjoy two part-time jobs at the moment where my duties range from gardening, labouring and driving, to shop-keeping, stock-taking and the use of cash registers
