Law Personal Statement

Whilst studying for my A levels, I have been given the opportunity to research different topics and study areas in depth which are new to me. Through each of my subjects, I have been introduced to the concepts of Law and Justice. This is a subject which provides a great deal of interest for me. It is a field of study that will provide constant challenges, which I will have to deal with individually

As an individual, I have a good sense of judgement. I disagree with those who are pre- judgemental, as i feel this is the core of discrimination and injustice. The whole concept of law means to fairly analyse situations and provide justice. This is something which my personal qualities will allow me to do

During my years at School, I took the opportunity to develop and display my leadership skills. These skills allow me to interact with others and provide guidance. The ability to communicate with everybody, in my view, is the most important skill to develop. By pursuing a Degree in Law, I feel that it will give me an opportunity to communicate, interact and understand others. I was also a School Prefect, which gave me the responsibilty of maintaining an orderly environment and setting an example. Community work is another activity which I have indulged in. I have taken part in Marathons and refugee work. I recently participated in Aid work abroad in India. here, I had the responsibilty of looking after orphans and the Elderly. This was an ultimate experience, which broadened my knowledge of cultures, traditions and current affairs in other countries

Another quality that I consider to be equally important, is the ability to be constructive and practical. During my spare time, I regularly go to the gym. This is because my physical fitness is important to me. I also value different cultures and forms of art. I find that indulging in the Arts is an active way of diversifying an Individual's interests and attitudes. I particularly enjoy seeing plays, two in particular were Othello and Bombay Dreams. Reading is another one of my keen interests. The writer Kathy Reichs has produced some excellent books which cover issues of Law, Anthropology and Crime. These are feilds which interest me greatly.
